THE ORGANIZATION IS DEDICATED TO PRESERVATION OF MICHIGAN GREAT LAKES AND WATERWAYS, MARITIME HISTORY AND CULTURE AND PROVIDES MARITIME EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES TO THE PUBLIC THROUGH PERMANENT AND CHANGING EXHIBITS, RESEARCH LIBRARY AND OTHER PROGRAMS AND EVENTS.

Part 3 - Line 4a

COLLECTIONS AND EXHIBITS - CHIEF RESOURCES FOR USE IN RESEARCH AND EXHIBITS ARE THE COLLECTIONS, EXHIBITS AND FRIENDS GOODWILL SHIP. EXHIBITS AND RESEARCH LIBRARY ARE OPEN YEAR AROUND TO THE PUBLIC. APPROXIMATELY 18,000 VISITORS.


EDUCATION AND RESEARCH - TOURS ARE OFFERED FOR ALL AGE GROUPS AS WELL AS LECTURES. OUTREACH PROGRAMS AND WORKSHOPS ON MARITIME SUBJECTS ARE GIVEN.


COMMUNITY SERVICE - THE MUSEUM SPONSORS FILM SHOWINGS, CLASSES AND LECTURES AS WELL AS SPECIAL WATERFRONT EVENTS AND FESTIVALS INCLUDING MEETS OF HISTORICAL BOATS AND RESEARCH VESSELS THAT PROVIDE PUBLIC TOURS.
