MID MICHIGAN COMMUNITY ACTION GUIDES LOCAL RESIDENTS ON THE PATH TO SELF-SUFFICIENCY THROUGH EMPOWERMENT, EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY ENRICHMENT.

Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

MID MICHIGAN COMMUNITY ACTION PROVIDES NUTRITION ASSISTANCE SUPPORT FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES THROUGH THE WOMEN, INFANTS, AND CHILDREN PROGRAM (CHILDREN 0-5 YEARS AND PREGNANT WOMEN), COMMODITY SUPPLEMENTAL FOOD PROGRAM (SENIORS), AND THE EMERGENCY FOOD ASSISTANCE PROGRAM. IN FY2023, 1,624,151 POUNDS OF FOOD WAS DISTRIBUTED TO 4,515 HOUSEHOLDS THROUGH THE COMMODITY AND EMERGENCY FOOD ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS. 1,516 INDIVIDUALS WERE ENROLLED AND RECEIVED WIC SERVICES.


WEATHERIZATION PROVIDES HOME ENERGY EFFICIENCY IMPROVEMENTS TO ELIGIBLE HOUSEHOLDS. IN FY2023, MID MICHIGAN COMMUNITY ACTION PROVIDED WEATHERIZATION SERVICES TO 282 HOMES INCLUDING 153 HOMES WITH SENIOR CITIZENS, 168 HOMES WITH A PERSON WITH A DISABILITY, AND 171 HOMES WITH CHILDREN UNDER 18. ON AVERAGE, $7,455 WAS INVESTED PER HOME TO MAKE IT SAFER, MORE ENERGY EFFICIENT, AND MORE COMFORTABLE.


EARLY CHILDHOOD SERVICES PROVIDES COMPREHENSIVE EDUCATION, CHILD DEVELOPMENT, AND FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICES THROUGH EARLY HEAD START (AGES 0-3 YEARS) AND PRESCHOOL PROGRAMS (AGES 3-5 YEARS). IN FY2023 THESE PROGRAMS SERVED 459 CHILDREN IN 346 FAMILIES INCLUDING 29 PREGNANT WOMEN.


HOUSING SUPPORT INCLUDES A VARIETY OF PROGRAMS FOCUSED ON HELPING CUSTOMES OBTAIN, MAINTAIN, AND STABILIZE THEIR HOUSING SITUATION. IN FY2023, MID MICHIGAN COMMUNITY ACTION HELPED 61 HOUSEHOLDS WITH EMERGENCY SHELTER, 135 HOUSEHOLDS (INCLUDING 29 VETERANS) WITH OBTAINING SAFE AND AFFORDABLE HOUSING, 291 HOUSEHOLDS WITH HOUSING STABILIZATION SERVICES, 583 WITH UTILITY ASSISTANCE, 282 HOUSEHOLDS WITH FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO AVOID FORECLOSURE OR EVICTION (INCLUDING 29 VETERANS).
