IN 2021, THE FURNITURE BANK IMPROVED THE LIVES OF 1,915 METRO DETROIT FAMILIES, PROVIDING THEM WITH 16,484 ITEMS CONSERVATIVELY VALUED AT $747,364. THIS IS TWICE THE NUMBER OF FAMILIES - WHO WON'T HAVE TO SLEEP, EAT OR LIVE ON A COLD, HARD FLOOR - THAN WE SERVED JUST FIVE YEARS AGO. IN TOTAL, WE SERVED 6,183 PEOPLE - 2,739 ADULTS AND 3,444 CHILDREN - FROM WAYNE, OAKLAND AND MACOMB COUNTIES, INCLUDING 694 INFANTS, TODDLERS AND CHILDREN WHO RECEIVED BEDS, TODDLER BEDS, CRIBS AND PORTABLE CRIBS TO GET A SAFER, HEALTHIER START IN LIFE. SIXTY-SEVEN PERCENT (67%) OF THOSE WE SERVED REPORTED INCOME OF $10,000 OR LESS, AND EIGHTY-SEVEN PERCENT (87%) HAD HOUSEHOLD INCOMES OF UNDER $20,000. WE COLLECTED FURNITURE FROM THE HOMES OF 3,977 DONORS, AND ALSO PROVIDED 543 LOW-INCOME FAMILIES WITH NO- OR LOW-COST DELIVERIES IN CONJUNCTION WITH OUR NONPROFIT PARTNERS.
