SUPPORTIVE SERVICES PROGRAMS ASSIST THE HOMELESS POPULATION THROUGH THE HOMELESS PREVENTION PROGRAM, WHICH OFFERS PERMANENT HOUSING SUPPORT, LINKS HOMEOWNERSHIP COUNSELING, FAMILY SELF-SUFFICIENCY, FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ASSISTANCE, & CONTINUUM OF CARE TO ELIGIBLE PARTICIPANTS & PROVIDE RENTAL ASSISTANCE, EMERGENCY HOTEL STAYS, SUPPLEMENTAL HOUSING, & EMERGENCY SHELTER.
THE FOOD PROGRAM INCLUDES THE COMMUNITY SUPPLEMENTAL FOOD PROGRAM, THE EMERGENCY FOOD ASSISTANCE PROGRAM, AND EMERGENCY FOOD BOXES FOR ELIGIBLE MONROE COUNTY RESIDENTS.
THE AGING AND DISABLED RESOURCES PROGRAMS LINK SENIORS WITH SERVICES AND BENEFITS FOR WHICH THEY MAY QUALIFY THROUGH HOME VISITS TO ASSESS APPROPRIATE COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT, INCLUDING COMMUNITY RESOURCE HANDBOOK, SAVE A LIFE PROGRAM, ELDERLY PRESCRIPTION INSURANCE COVERAGE CENTER, TAX CREDITS, MEDICAID/MEDICARE APPLICATIONS, SENIOR PRESCRIPTION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM, SENIOR FUEL AND UNMET EMERGENCY NEEDS PROGRAM, AND HOME INJURY CONTROL. ADDITIONAL SERVICES PROVIDED TO SENIORS AT LOW OR NO COST ARE HOME CHORE AND MAINTENANCE TASKS, INCLUDING LAWN MOWING, SNOW SHOVELING, CLEANING GUTTERS, MINOR CARPENTRY, ELECTRICAL AND PLUMBING REPAIRS, AND INSTALLING STORM WINDOWS AND AIR CONDITIONERS TO IMPROVE SAFETY IN AND OUTSIDE THE HOME. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO ASSISTS OTHER MONROE COUNTY RESIDENTS WITH DAILY ROUTINES, SUCH AS HOMEMAKING AND PERSONAL CARE TASKS SO THAT CLIENTS MAY REMAIN LIVING INDEPENDENTLY IN THEIR OWN HOMES. RESPITE CARE IS ALSO AVAILABLE FOR CAREGIVERS. TRANSPORTATION IS PROVIDED FOR ELIGIBLE PASSENGERS TO MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS AND OTHER NON-EMERGENCY TRIPS THROUGHOUT SOUTHEASTERN MICHIGAN AND TOLEDO, OHIO WITH VANS EQUIPPED WITH WHEELCHAIR LIFTS AND SEATING FOR SIX TO TEN PASSENGERS.
