PROMOTED DAIRY PRODUCTS BY WORKING WITH PARTNERS TO RAISE AWARENESS OF MILK'S NUTRITIONAL BENEFITS FOR MICHIGANDERS IN NEED. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO PARTNERED WITH FOOD BANKS AND RETAILERS TO EDUCATE CONSUMERS ON THE NEED FOR MILK IN THE FOOD BANKING SYSTEM AND TO INCREASE THEIR CAPACITY FOR MILK DISTRIBUTION. DURING 2021, MILK DRIVES WERE HELD AT 143 STORES WHICH RESULTED IN MATCHING 24,000 GALLONS OF MILK TO APPROXIMATELY 120,000 CONSUMERS. IN ADDITION, THERE WERE EXHIBITS AT HEALTH PROFESSIONAL AND SCHOOL CONFERENCES, PROVIDING NUTRITIONAL INFORMATION TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. DAIRY COUNCIL OF MICHIGAN HOSTED VIRTUAL FARM TOURS TO EDUCATE CONSUMERS ON WHERE THEIR DAIRY PRODUCTS COME FROM. REACHED 2,396 EDUCATORS AND 46,250 STUDENTS. THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDED NATURE'S SPORTS DRINK GRANTS TO 337 HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS TEAMS TO HELP THEM LEARN ABOUT PERFORMANCE NUTRITION AND THE BENEFITS OF CHOCOLATE MILK AS A REFUEL BEVERAGE. DIRECTLY REACHED 14,536 ATHLETES WITH POTENTIAL IMPACT ON >76,000 STUDENTS IN THE HIGH SCHOOLS RECEIVING GRANTS. THE ADOPT A COW PROGRAM REACHED OVER 1,000 CLASSROOMS FOR A TOTAL OF 21,666 STUDENTS. TEACHERS ARE PROVIDED DIGITAL LESSON PLANS FOR STUDENTS TO LEARN ABOUT HOW DAIRY FARMERS CARE FOR THEIR ANIMALS AND DO LIVE MONTHLY CHECKINS WITH THEIR ADOPTED CALF. UDIM TEAMED UP WITH YOUNG MINDS INSPIRED (YMI) TO BRING A SERIES OF FIVE FREE TEACHING KITS WITH STANDARDS-BASED LESSONS TO NEARLY 3,000 EDUCATORS. STUDENTS LEARNED WHY DAIRY IS AN IMPORTANT PART OF A BALANCED DIET, HOW MILK GOES FROM LOCAL DAIRY FARMS TO THEIR KITCHEN TABLE, AND HOW DAIRY FARMERS USE TECHNOLOGY, SCIENCE, AND SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES TO HELP KEEP THEIR COWS HEALTHY AND PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT. DAIRY COUNCIL PARTNERED WITH AFC ANN ARBOR, FOOD BANKS AND SCHOOLS TO PROMOTE SUMMER FEEDING TO KIDS. STUDENTS LEARNED SOCCER SKILLS, ENJOYED A NUTRITIOUS MEAL AND WERE PROVIDED NUTRITION EDUCATION RESOURCES. REACH-SOUTHEAST MI FAMILIES. PROVIDED VIRTUAL FARM TOURS, GROCERY STORE TOUR TRAINING AND COOKING DEMO TRAINING FOR DIETETIC INTERNS AND UNIVERSITY STUDENTS. A TOTAL OF SIX SESSIONS WERE ATTENDED BY 117 PEOPLE. OVER 390 ATTENDEES INCLUDING DIETITIANS, PEDIATRICIANS, WIC, SCHOOL WELLNESS, AND OTHER HEALTH PROFESSIONALS TUNED IN FROM ACROSS MICHIGAN FOR A WEBINAR ON THE 2020-25 DIETARY GUIDELINES FOR AMERICANS.
