AN ARTS AND ECOLOGY CENTER DEDICATED TO CONNECTING PEOPLE WITH NATURE, ART AND COMMUNITY.

Part 3 - Line 4a

PROGRAMMING: ARTS: CROSSHATCH SUPPORTS ARTISTS IN THE CREATION OF NEW WORK. THE LONG MEMORY PROJECT BRINGS ELDERS TOGETHER WITH ARTISTS FOR AN INTENTIONAL LISTENING SESSION THAT HONORS THE STORIES OF THE PAST. THE ARTISTS THEN SPEND TWO WEEKS IN RESIDENCE TO CREATE SONGS, POEMS, AND ARTWORK TO HELP THE BOARDER COMMUNITY UNDERSTAND WHERE WE CAME FROM. CROSSHATCH ALSO HOSTS ARTIST AFTER HOURS, A MONTHLY NETWORKING OPPORTUNITY FOR AREA ARTISTS.


CONNECTING PEOPLE WITH NATURE, ART AND COMMUNITY


EDUCATION: CROSSHATCH EDUCATIONAL OFFERINGS INCLUDE SEVERAL HIGH-QUALITY WELL-LOVED PROGRAMS. THE SKILL SWAP, A DAY OF SKILLS WORKSHOPS IN 4 AREAS: THE GREEN WORLD, THE REAL HOME EC, ART, AND TINKERING. THE NORTHERN MICHIGAN SMALL FARM CONFERENCE AND FARM SCHOOL PROMOTES AND BUILDS A LOCAL AGRICULTURE COMMUNITY, EQUIPS THE SMALL FARM COMMUNITY WITH THE TOOLS TO BE SUCCESSFUL, AND ACTS AS A FORUM FOR THE EXCHANGE OF IDEAS. CROSSHATCH ALSO HOLDS WORKSHOPS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, WITH A FOCUS ON ECOLOGY AND REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE.


PROGRAMMING: FOOD, FARM & COMMUNITY: CROSSHATCH OFFERS SEVERAL COMMUNITY PROGRAMS. GUILDS PROVIDE MUTUAL SUPPORT FOR SKILL-BUILDING AND NETWORKING FOR FARMERS AT ANY SCALE, PROVIDING PEER-TO-PEER LEARNING, MENTORING, DEMOS AND FARM TOURS. THE MICROLOAN PROGRAM PARTNERS WITH LOCAL BUSINESSES TO PROVIDE NO-INTEREST LOANS TO FARMERS. PRESERVATION STATION IS A CANNING KITCHEN ON WHEELS. THE CHICKEN COUPE IS A POULTRY PROCESSING TRAILER. CROSSHATCH ALSO PROVIDES TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO ORGANIZATIONS AND COMMUNITIES.
