SUNDAYS AT SCIOTO - IN 2023, DAC, WITH THE HELP OF CLASS ACTS (ENTERTAINMENT SOURCING AGENCY) AND COMMUNITY SPONSORS ORGANIZED AND PRODUCED ITS ANNUAL FOUR-WEEK SERIES OF FREE SUMMER CONCERTS FROM AUGUST TO OCTOBER, PROVIDING A VARIETY OF POPULAR, LOCAL MUSIC AND A VARIETY OF FOOD TRUCKS ON SUNDAY EVENINGS AT NEARBY SCIOTO PARK. THE CONCERTS DRAW A DIVERSE CROWD THROUGHOUT THE SERIES, RANGING FROM YOUNG FAMILIES TO SENIORS. THE CONCERT SERIES WAS DEEMED A SUCCESS, AS THE PARK CAPACITY WAS COMPLETELY FULL FOR TWO OF THE CONCERTS. DAC PLANS ON ORGANIZING FOUR MORE CONCERTS FOR THE SERIES IN 2024.
COMMUNITY ARTS GRANTS & SPECIAL PROJECTS - DUBLIN ARTS COUNCIL'S COMMUNITY ARTS GRANTS DEMONSTRATE A CONTINUED COMMITMENT TO SUPPORT AND INVEST IN THE ARTS IN DUBLIN. BY GRANTING FUNDS TO NONPROFIT ARTS ORGANIZATIONS AND SUPPORTING ARTS PROJECTS WITH PRIMARY IMPACT IN DUBLIN, DAC STRIVES TO ENSURE A HEALTHY COMMUNITY WHERE VARIOUS ART FORMS, ARTS ORGANIZATIONS, AND ARTISTIC PROJECTS CAN FLOURISH. THE 2023 AWARDEES INCLUDE: COLUMBUS MODERN DANCE COMPANY (COMO), DUBLIN AREA ART LEAGUE, DUBLIN COMMUNITY BANDS, DUBLIN SINGERS, EVERSOLE, EVOLUTION THEATRE, & JASCO. DAC PARTNERED WITH VISIT DUBLIN OHIO FOR DISCOVER DUBLIN ART TO RAISE AWARENESS OF DUBLINS SELF-GUIDED ARTS EXPERIENCE FOR VISITORS WITHIN A DAYS DRIVE TO DUBLIN. THE PROJECT INCLUDED RACK CARDS TO BE DISTRIBUTED TO LOCAL HOTELS AND BUSINESSES AND A SERIES OF SOCIAL MEDIA INFLUENCERS TO VISIT DUBLIN, OHIO WITH A CURATED ITINERARY FEATURING ART. THROUGH THIS INITIATIVE DAC ALSO PARTNERED WITH AKRONS ARTSNOW TO EXCHANGE WEEKEND TRIPS AND POST ABOUT EXPERIENCES ON EACH ORGANIZATIONS PAGES. EXPENSES: 103,850. INCLUDING GRANTS OF 25,400. REVENUE 0 COMMUNITY ARTS EDUCATION - DAC OFFERED A VARIETY OF ARTIST-LED WORKSHOPS AND FIELD TRIPS INSPIRED BY EXHIBITIONS FEATURED IN THE DUBLIN ARTS COUNCIL GALLERY. SOME EXAMPLES INCLUDE STRING ART, SCULPTURE, NATURE WALK, SKETCHING/DRAWING AND DYING WITH NATURAL MATERIALS. DAC MANAGES SIX ARTBOXES, VESSELS AKIN TO LITTLE LIBRARIES, IN HIGHLY- TRAFFICKED AREAS OF THE COMMUNITY, TO DISTRIBUTE ART SUPPLIES AND GRAB- AND-GO ARTS ACTIVITIES. ART IN PUBLIC PLACES - THE DUBLIN ARTS COUNCIL ART IN PUBLIC PLACES PROGRAM'S GOAL IS TO ENHANCE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR DUBLIN'S RESIDENTS AND TO STRENGTHEN THE CITY AS A DESTINATION FOR VISITORS. THE COLLECTION INCLUDES BOTH LARGE AND SMALL VISUAL ARTWORKS ACQUIRED THROUGH A VARIETY OF MODELS IN WHICH DUBLIN ARTS COUNCIL IS ACTIVELY ENGAGED, INCLUDING MAJOR GIFTING, COMMITTEE-DIRECTED PROJECTS, CALLS FOR ENTRIES AND JURYING, ON- LOAN PROGRAMS WITH AN ACQUISITION COMPONENT, INTERACTIVE PROJECTS, CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE CITY'S INTERIOR COLLECTION AND PROJECTS WHICH DEFINE A COMMUNITY INITIATIVE. DAC DEEPENS ENGAGEMENT WITH THE RIVERBOXES, A GEOCACHING INSPIRED PUBLIC ART COLLECTION, AND CREATES A NUMBER OF INITIATIVES TO ENGAGE THE COMMUNITY IN CREATIVE PURSUIT. ACCORDING TO A 2017 APPRAISAL, THE COLLECTION IS VALUED AT 3.8 MILLION. THE DUBLIN ART IN PUBLIC PLACES PROGRAM BEGAN IN 1988 AND HAS GROWN TO MORE THAN 60 LARGE AND SMALL-SCALE PERMANENT, TEMPORARY, AND INTERACTIVE PUBLIC ART PROJECTS TODAY. DUBLIN ARTS COUNCIL MAINTAINS THAT PUBLIC ART SHOULD INSPIRE AN EMOTIONAL RESPONSE, PROVOKE QUESTIONS, AND INVITE INTERACTION WHILE ENCOURAGING INGENUITY AND CREATIVE DISCOVERY BY ARTISTS. THE COLLECTION OF PUBLIC ARTWORKS DISTINGUISHES DUBLIN AND CREATES A SENSE OF PLACE WHILE CONTRIBUTING TO DUBLIN'S AESTHETIC LEGACY. IN COLLABORATION WITH THE CITY OF DUBLIN, THE DUBLIN ARTS COUNCIL ADOPTED ITS FIRST PUBLIC ART MASTER PLAN IN 2021. IN 2023, THE BOAT IN THE FIELD, BY ARTIST ILAN IVERBUCH WAS INSTALLED IN DUBLIN'S M.L. "RED" TRABUE NATURE RESERVE. THE DEDICATION TOOK PLACE ON AUGUST 24, 2023 AND WAS WELL ATTENDED BY THE COMMUNITY, INCLUDING REPRESENTATIVES FROM THE TRABUE FAMILY AND THE CITY MAYOR. IN ADDITION TO THE BOAT IN THE FIELD, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH CRAWFORD HOYING, TWO PUBLIC ART INSTALLATIONS WERE COMPLETED IN BRIDGE PARK, INCLUDING IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD BY ERIC RAUSH AND JEN KIKO, A HAND-CUT MOSAIC INSTALLED AT THE CORNER OF RIVERSIDE DRIVE AND BRIDGE PARK AVENUE, AND TWO OF RICK BRAVEHEARTS PHOTOGRAPHS WERE FEATURED ON 100 FT X 40 FT SCRIM PANELS INSTALLED ON TWO SIDES OF THE MCCALLUM GARAGE. IN AUGUST OF 2023, DAC WORKED WITH THE CITY AND THE COMMUNITY FOR THE SITE SELECTION PROCESS FOR THE MUIRFIELD PUBLIC ART PROJECT, AS WELL AS A CALL FOR ARTISTS IN NOVEMBER 2023. THE PROJECT WILL CONTINUE INTO 2024 WITH INSTALLATION AND DEDICATION SITED FOR 2025. IN AN EFFORT TO EDUCATE THE COMMUNITY ON OUR PUBLIC ART COLLECTION, DAC CREATED THREE THIRTY-SECOND VIDEOS IN THE ARTIST'S WORDS FEATURING THE BOAT IN THE FIELD, FEATHERPOINT AND IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD. THE PROJECT WILL CONTINUE INTO 2024 WITH FOUR ADDITIONAL VIDEOS THAT WILL BE SHARED ON DAC'S WEBSITE AND THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA.
VISUAL ART SERIES - DUBLIN ARTS COUNCIL BRINGS A VARIETY OF ARTWORK FROM LOCAL, REGIONAL, NATIONAL, AND INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS TO THE DAC'S GALLERY, PROVIDING SALES AND EDUCATIONAL COMPONENTS THAT BRING ABOUT A DEEPER UNDERSTANDING AND APPRECIATION OF VISUAL ART. A NEW EXHIBITION OPENS APPROXIMATELY EVERY SIX WEEKS.
