THE 38TH SYMPOSIUM, THEMED SAVING OUR WILDLIFE, HELD IN SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, TEXAS, WAS ATTENDED BY 493 PEOPLE FROM 39 STATES, SEVERAL CANADIAN PROVINCES, AND UNITED KINGDOM, BELGIUM, BRAZIL, ITALY, SWEDEN, NEW ZEALAND, AND MEXICO. FOUR-DAY MEMBER GENERAL REGISTRATION, A NOMINAL $150, IS DESIGNED TO ENABLE ATTENDANCE FOR MANY MEMBERS WHO ARE SELF-FUNDED AND/OR RELY ON DONATIONS, AND THOSE WHO VOLUNTEER THEIR TIME AND RESOURCES AT A FACILITY. FEES ARE KEPT LOW THROUGH SPONSORSHIPS AND DONATIONS. SINCE 1993, NWRA HAS AWARDED $118,979 IN SCHOLARSHIPS, PROVIDING FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO 191 INDIVIDUALS; A LIST OF RECIPIENTS FOR EACH CURRENTLY AVAILABLE SCHOLARSHIP IS POSTED AT WWW.NWRAWILDLIFE.ORG. AWARDS: NWRA RECOGNIZES MEANINGFUL ADVANCES IN THE FIELD THROUGH THE LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT, SIGNIFICANT ACHIEVEMENT, AND MARLYS BULANDER WORKING TOGETHER FOR WILDLIFE AWARDS. THOSE WORKING IN THE FIELD ARE ENCOURAGED TO NOMINATE DESERVING INDIVIDUALS ANNUALLY. NWRA AWARDED TWO LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS AS WELL AS A BOARD OF DIRECTORS AWARD IN 2020. SINCE 1984, NWRA HAS HONORED MORE THAN 67 OUTSTANDING INDIVIDUALS AND 5 ORGANIZATIONS THAT HAVE MADE MAJOR ADVANCES IN OUR FIELD FOR THE BENEFIT OF MANY REHABILITATORS AND COUNTLESS WILD ANIMALS.
