COMPANY STORE. SOCIETY MAINTAINS A RETAIL STORE ON ITS WEBSITE FOR THE PURPOSE OF PURCHASING AND SELLING SOCIETY-RELATED MERCHANDISE. NET PROCEEDS ARE USED TO HELP FUND THE SOCIETY'S ARCHIVAL PRESERVATION ACTIVITIES AND OPERATING EXPENSES. STORE ITEMS ARE MADE AVAILABLE TO 685 MEMBERS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC ON THE SOCIETY'S WEBSITE AND AT A STOREFRONT LOCATION IN KANSAS CITY, MO.


ANNUAL CONVENTION. SOCIETY HOLDS AN ANNUAL CONVENTION FOR 685 MEMBERS, SPOUSES, AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC. EVENTS AT THE YEARLY CONVENTIONS INCLUDE BUSINESS MEETINGS, OFFICER ELECTIONS, PRESENTATIONS OF HISTORICAL, SOCIETY RELATED TOPICS, AND TOURS OF LOCAL, HISTORICAL RAILROAD FACILITIES.


MEMBERSHIP AND PUBLICATIONS. SOCIETY PUBLISHES QUARTERLY MAGAZINES AND A YEARLY CALENDAR TO 685 MEMBERS. ADDITIONAL COPIES OF BOTH ARE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE BY THE GENERAL PUBLIC ON THE SOCIETY'S WEBSITE AND AT RETAIL OUTLETS. SOCIETY PUBLISHS BOOKS ON SOCIETY-RELATED HISTORICAL TOPICS. BOOKS ARE WRITTEN BY MEMBER VOLUNTEERS AND MADE AVAILABLE FOR SALE TO MEMBERS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC. NET PROCEEDS FROM BOOK SALES ARE USED TO HELP SUPPORT SOCIETY'S ARCHIVAL PRESERVATION ACTIVITIES, OPERATING EXPENSES, AND FUTURE PUBLICATIONS.


MPHS ARCHIVES. SOCIETY RENTS OFFICE SPACE FOR THE PURPOSE OF ORGANIZING, STORING, PRESERVING, AND SHARING HISTORICAL MATERIALS IN SUPPORT OF THE SOCIETY'S MISSION. MATERIALS ARE MADE AVAILABLE TO 685 MEMBERS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC. ARCHIVE ACTIVITIES INCLUDE ACCEPTANCE AND ORGANIZATION OF PHYSICAL DOCUMENTS AND IMAGES AND ELECTRONIC PRESERVATION. ARCHIVAL PRESERVATION ACTIVITIES ARE SUPPORTED BY VOLUNTEERS. LOCAL COMPANIES ARE USED IN SOME CASES TO ASSIST WITH ELECTRONIC PRESERVATION OF LARGER DOCUMENTS AND IMAGES.
