THE ASSOCIATION FOR HOSPITAL MEDICAL EDUCATION (AHME) IS A NATIONAL ORGANIZATION OF INSTITUTIONS AND INDIVIDUALS CONCERNED WITH MEDICAL EDUCATION. THIS CONCERN COVERS ALL PHASES OF MEDICAL EDUCATION,INCLUDING UNDERGRADUATE, GRADUATE AND CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION, EITHER SINGLY OR IN A VARIETY OF COMBINATIONS. THE MAJORITY OF THESE TEACHING HOSPITALS HAS A FUNCTIONAL ASSOCIATION WITH ONE OR MORE COLLEGES OF MEDICINE AND REPRESENTS A LARGE SEGMENT OF THE CLINICAL FACILITIES AVAILABLE FOR GRADUATE TRAINING IN THE UNITED STATES. THESE HOSPITALS HAVE MADE EXTENSIVE COMMITMENTS TO GRADUATE AND CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION FOR MANY YEARS. THE ASSOCIATION QUALIFIES AS A NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANIZATION UNDER INTERNAL REVENUE CODE 501(C)(6) AND IS EXEMPT FROM INCOME TAXES.
