INITIAL CERTIFICATION OF ORTHOPAEDICS:EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS, PEER REVIEW, A WRITTEN EXAM, AND AN ORAL EXAM ARE REQUIRED TO BECOME BOARD CERTIFIED. THERE WERE 751 NEW ORTHOPAEDIC SURGEONS CERTIFIED IN THE FISCAL YEAR ENDED IN 2021. CANDIDATES WHO PASS THE CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS BECOME A DIPLOMATE OF THE ORGANIZATION FOR 10 YEARS. THE ORGANIZATION HAS A TOTAL OF 29,347 DIPLOMATES DURING THE MOST RECENTLY COMPLETED FISCAL YEAR.
