2023 WAS A SUCCESSFUL YEAR FOR THE IDAHO TRAILS ASSOCIATION (ITA). WITH THE HELP OF 721 VOLUNTEERS, ITA ORGANIZED 74 PROJECTS IN DIVERSE GEOGRAPHIC LOCATIONS, FROM INCREDIBLY REMOTE PLACES TO TRAILS JUST OUTSIDE BOISE AND SANDPOINT, RANGING FROM ONE-DAY PROJECTS TO WEEKLONG TRIPS. THE PROJECTS COMPLETED WERE ALL BASED ON PUBLIC LANDS THROUGHOUT THE STATE. AFTER HIKES TO THE PROJECT SITES, ITA CREWS WORKED A TOTAL OF 13,262 HOURS, CLEARED 293 MILES OF TRAIL, REMOVED 4,186 LOGS, CLEANED 666 WATER BARS, AND BRUSHED 89.2 MILES OF TRAIL. THE ITA STARTED A NEW VETERANS PROGRAM DURING THE 2023 TRAIL SEASON AND COMPLETED TWO TRIPS WITH VETERANS. (CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O) THE ITA ALSO HELD THEIR FIRST WILDERNESS IMMERSION TRIP, A 3-WEEK PROJECT IN THE FRANK CHURCH WILDERNESS OF NO RETURN FOR VOLUNTEERS TO EXPERIENCE A LENGTHIER IMMERSION INTO WILDERNESS AND TRAIL WORK.
