REPAIR THE WORLD MOBILIZES JEWS AND THEIR COMMUNITIES TO TAKE ACTION TO PURSUE A MORE JUST WORLD, IGNITING A LIFELONG COMMITMENT TO SERVICE. WE BELIEVE SERVICE IN SUPPORT OF SOCIAL CHANGE IS VITAL TO A FLOURISHING JEWISH COMMUNITY AND AN INSPIRED JEWISH LIFE.

REPAIR BUILDS THRIVING JEWISH COMMUNITIES ACROSS THE COUNTRY THROUGH SERVICE AND LEARNING, GROUNDED IN JEWISH VALUES, THAT MEET PRESSING LOCAL NEEDS, CONNECT YOUNG ADULTS TO JEWISH LIFE, AND BUILD BRIDGES ACROSS LINES OF DIFFERENCE. EACH YEAR, WE MOBILIZE TENS OF THOUSANDS OF VOLUNTEERS TO SERVE AND ENGAGE IN JEWISH AND CONTEXTUAL LEARNING IN DEEP PARTNERSHIP WITH NONPROFITS ADDRESSING EDUCATION EQUITY, FOOD JUSTICE, RACIAL JUSTICE, AND MORE. IN RESPONSE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, WE HAVE GROWN OUR PROGRAMMING TO MEET RISING DEMAND, GALVANIZING GREATER NUMBERS OF JEWS AND THEIR COMMUNITIES TO FORM A LONG-TERM COMMITMENT TO SERVICE. THIS PROGRAM YEAR, WE GREW OUR IMPACT BY 54% FROM THE PRIOR YEAR, DESPITE THE CHALLENGES OF SOCIAL DISTANCING. WE MOBILIZED, CATALYZED, AND INSPIRED 36,675 PARTICIPANTS IN 100,273 MEANINGFUL ACTS OF SERVICE AND LEARNING ACROSS THE COUNTRY TO CONTRIBUTE 166,849 HOURS OF SERVICE TO NONPROFIT PARTNERS. THIS SERVICE TRANSLATED TO BUILDING CAPACITY FOR OUR PARTNERS INCLUDING PREPARING/SERVING 194,915 MEALS, DONATING 118,418 POUNDS OF FOOD, PACKING 59,300 CARE KITS FOR NEIGHBORS IN NEED, AND MORE.REPAIR MOBILIZES JEWS AND THEIR COMMUNITIES IN SERVICE AND LEARNING THROUGH THREE PRIMARY PROGRAMS: THE FULL-TIME FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM, PART-TIME SERVICE CORPS, AND EPISODIC SERVICE AND LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE BROADER COMMUNITY. ALL REPAIR PROGRAMMING PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES FOR SERVICE AND LEARNING, CONSISTING OF ISSUE-AREA EDUCATION, HANDS-ON SERVICE, REFLECTION, AND A JEWISH LENS. AS PART OF THE FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM, A COHORT OF FULL-TIME FELLOWS LIVE, SERVE, AND LEARN WITHIN THEIR COMMUNITIES, ENGAGING IN DIRECT SERVICE TO SUPPORT LOCAL NONPROFIT PARTNERS, HOSTING SERVICE AND EDUCATIONAL EVENTS FOR THE COMMUNITY, AND USING PEER-TO-PEER ENGAGEMENT TO MOBILIZE OTHERS TO SERVE ALONGSIDE THEM. THIS YEAR, 23 FELLOWS ENGAGED IN 14,382 HOURS OF SERVICE AND LEARNING, AND CONTRIBUTED 4,597 ACTS OF SERVICE AND LEARNING TO 112 NONPROFIT PARTNERS IN ATLANTA, BALTIMORE, DETROIT, MIAMI, NEW YORK, AND DETROIT. 96% OF FELLOWS SAID THAT BECAUSE OF REPAIR THEY FEEL MORE CONNECTED TO THEIR NEIGHBORS AND THEIR LOCAL COMMUNITY.
IN MAY 2020, ALONGSIDE THE FELLOWSHIP, REPAIR LAUNCHED SERVE THE MOMENT, A NATIONAL SERVICE INITIATIVE MOBILIZING TENS OF THOUSANDS OF JEWISH YOUNG ADULTS AND THEIR COMMUNITIES IN 100,000 ACTS OF NEEDED AND MEANINGFUL SERVICE TO ADDRESS THE COVID-19 CRISIS. AS PART OF THIS INITIATIVE, IN SUMMER 2020, A PILOT COHORT OF 100 PART-TIME, STIPENDED CORPS MEMBERS SERVED DIRECTLY WITH NONPROFITS ON THE FRONT LINES OF THE PANDEMIC IN COMMUNITIES ACROSS THE COUNTRY. THROUGH THIS INITIATIVE, REPAIR EXPANDED ITS OPERATIONS TO NEW CITIES, INCREASING THE TOTAL NUMBER OF REPAIR THE WORLD COMMUNITIES TO 13: ATLANTA, BALTIMORE, BAY AREA, BOSTON, BROOKLYN, CHICAGO, CLEVELAND, DETROIT, HARLEM, LOS ANGELES, MIAMI, PHILADELPHIA, AND PITTSBURGH. THIS YEAR, 683 CORPS MEMBERS ENGAGED IN 55,736 HOURS OF SERVICE AND LEARNING WITH 255 PARTNERS IN COMMUNITIES ACROSS THE COUNTRY. FELLOWS AND SERVICE CORPS MEMBERS, IN TANDEM WITH REPAIR STAFF, MOBILIZE THE BROADER COMMUNITY IN EPISODIC VIRTUAL AND IN-PERSON PROGRAMMING, SUCH AS PACKAGING AND DELIVERING MEALS FOR INDIVIDUALS EXPERIENCING FOOD INSECURITY, WORKING ON URBAN FARMS AND GARDENS, AND PROVIDING VIRTUAL TUTORING. THROUGH THESE PROGRAMS, REPAIR MOBILIZES TENS OF THOUSANDS OF YOUNG PEOPLE AND CONNECTS THEM WITH PURPOSEFUL OPPORTUNITIES TO MAKE AN IMPACT WITH LOCAL DRIVERS FOR CHANGE. REPAIR ALSO HOSTS EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS, SUCH AS THEMED COCKTAILS WITH A CONSCIENCE AND SHABBAT DINNERS, TO ENGAGE YOUNG ADULTS IN DIALOGUE, ISSUE AREA EDUCATION, AND JEWISH LEARNING.
ALONGSIDE PROGRAMMING IN LOCAL COMMUNITIES, REPAIR ENGAGES IN FIELD ACTIVATION THROUGH NATIONAL PARTNERSHIPS AND NATIONAL SERVICE CAMPAIGNS. REPAIR PARTNERS WITH NATIONAL JEWISH COMMUNAL ORGANIZATIONS, LIKE HILLEL INTERNATIONAL, BBYO, MOISHE HOUSE, AND JDC ENTWINE, TO SUPPORT OTHER JEWISH COMMUNITIES ACROSS THE COUNTRY IN PRIORITIZING IMPACTFUL SERVICE AND LEARNING GROUNDED IN JEWISH VALUES. SPECIFICALLY, REPAIR PARTNERS WITH HILLEL INTERNATIONAL TO SUPPORT COLLEGE STUDENTS AROUND THE WORLD TO ENGAGE THEIR PEERS IN SERVICE, CIVIC ENGAGEMENT, JEWISH LEARNING, AND SOCIAL JUSTICE WORK DURING THEIR SCHOOL YEAR. 100 CAMPUS CORPS MEMBERS ON 96 HILLEL CAMPUSES CONTRIBUTED 23,888 HOURS OF SERVICE TO PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS. 91% OF CAMPUS CORPS MEMBERS SAID THAT THE CAMPUS CORPS PROVIDED THEM WITH AN OPPORTUNITY TO DO GOOD IN THE WORLD THROUGH A JEWISH LENS. THROUGH THIS AND OTHER NATIONAL PARTNERSHIPS THROUGH THE JEWISH SERVICE ALLIANCE, A COALITION OF 44 PARTNERS FROM ACROSS THE SPECTRUM OF JEWISH LIFE, REPAIR CATALYZED 32,305 ACTS OF SERVICE AND LEARNING THAT RESULTED IN MEANINGFUL EXPERIENCES FOR YOUNG JEWISH PEOPLE AND THE COMMUNITIES THEY SERVE. ADDITIONALLY, THROUGH NATIONAL THEMATIC SERVICE CAMPAIGNS FOCUSED ON SPECIFIC ISSUES (I.E., FOOD INSECURITY, RACIAL JUSTICE) AND TIMES OF YEAR (I.E., MLK DAY, THANKSGIVING, JEWISH HOLIDAYS), REPAIR INSPIRES TENS OF THOUSANDS OF JEWS AND THEIR COMMUNITIES TO GET INVOLVED IN SERVICE AND ENGAGE IN CRITICAL CONVERSATIONS. THROUGH OUR NATIONAL SERVICE CAMPAIGNS, YOUNG ADULTS PARTICIPATED IN HANDS-ON SERVICE VIRTUALLY AND IN-PERSON, LEARNED ABOUT HOW THEIR SERVICE ADDRESSES SYSTEMIC ISSUES, AND PARTICIPATED IN MEANINGFUL DIALOGUE THROUGH A JEWISH LENS. CAMPAIGNS INCLUDE DIGITAL RESOURCES, LIKE EDUCATION GUIDES, AS WELL AS VIRTUAL AND IN-PERSON SERVICE. REPAIRS MLK NATIONAL DAY OF SERVICE CAMPAIGN, FOR EXAMPLE, HAD A DIGITAL REACH OF 415,615, AND INSPIRED 8,601 ACTS OF SERVICE AND LEARNING NATIONWIDE. IN 2019-20, REPAIRS CAMPAIGNS FOCUSED ON THE JEWISH HIGH HOLIDAYS, MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS, PASSOVER, HOUSING INJUSTICE AND MORE TO REACH A BROAD AUDIENCE AND PROVIDE TIMELY AND SIGNIFICANT OPPORTUNITIES TO ENGAGE IN THE COMMUNITY. SIX NATIONAL SERVICE CAMPAIGNS RESULTED IN 880,060 TOTAL DIGITAL ENGAGEMENTS, MORE THAN 5,190 DOWNLOADS OF LEARNING AND INTERACTIVE GUIDES, AND 17,267 ACTS OF SERVICE AND LEARNING.DURING UNPRECEDENTED STRUGGLES AND BARRIERS PRESENTED BY THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, REPAIR THE WORLD ADAPTED, PILOTED, AND EXPANDED PROGRAMMING TO MEET THE NEEDS OF NONPROFIT PARTNERS AND ADDRESS URGENT LOCAL CHALLENGES. IN SPITE OF LOCKDOWNS AND SOCIAL DISTANCE, REPAIR MOBILIZED, CATALYZED, AND INSPIRED TENS OF THOUSANDS OF YOUNG PEOPLE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THEIR COMMUNITIES.
