IN 2021, THE ILLINOIS VIPASSANA ASSOCIATION SERVED APPROXIMATELY 200 STUDENTS. IN THE SECOND YEAR OF OPERATING UNDER COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS, THE CENTER CONTINUED TO FUNCTION IN A PROGRAMMED AUSTERITY MODE, REDUCING ALL BUT CRITICAL COSTS FOR SAFELY MAINTAINING THE CENTER'S PROPERTY. IN MAY 2021, THE CENTER SUFFERED THE LOSS OF A CRITICAL BUILDING DUE TO AN ELECTRICAL FIRE, FURTHER HINDERING THE ABILITY TO OFFER PROGRAMMING. IN RESPONSE TO THIS CHALLENGE, THE ILLINOIS VIPASSANA ASSOCIATION RECEIVED AN OUTPOURING OF ADDITIONAL FINANCIAL SUPPORT THAT WILL BE USED TO REBUILD THE DAMAGED FACILITIES.
