THE SCHOOL DISTRICT 145 FOUNDATION FOR EDUCATION'S MISSION IS TO ENRICH THE EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE IN OUR SCHOOLS BY PROVIDING FINANCIAL RESOURCES TO SUPPORT CREATIVE ENDEAVORS THAT WILL PROMOTE THE ACHIEVEMENT AND SUCCESS OF OUR STUDENTS. SINCE IT'S INCEPTION IN 1990, THE SCHOOL DISTRICT 145 FOUNDATION FOR EDUCATION HAS WORKED DILIGENTLY TO 1. INDENTIFY AND PROVIDE FUNDING FOR EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES BEYOND THE SCOPE OF THE EXISTING PROGRAMS AND SCHOOL DISTRICT 145'S FUNDING SOURCES, 2. RECOGNIZE EXCELLENCE AND OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM THROUGHOUT SCHOOL DISTRICT 145, AND 3. AWARD CLASSROOM GRANTS INCLUDING BOOKS, TECHNOLOGY, EQUIPMENT AND GUEST SPEAKERS. GRANTS WERE AWARDED TO ALL 5 SCHOOLS WITHIN SCHOOL DISTRICT 145. STUDENTS IN GRADES K-12 BENEFITTED, APPROXIMATELY 2000 STUDENTS.
AS A CHILD CARE CENTER, LICENSED BY THE STATE OF NEBRASKA'S DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES, THE VIKING DISCOVERY PROGRAM STRIVES TO PROVIDE THE HIGHEST QUALITY SERVICE TO THE FAMILIES OF SCHOOL DISTRICT 145. THE VIKING DISCOVERY PROGRAM ENCOURAGES STUDENTS TO BE PART OF A RESPECTFUL AND RESPONSIBLE COMMUNITY. PROGRAM STAFF CHALLENGE STUDENTS TO EXCEL IN ACADEMIC, SOCIAL, AND RECREATIONAL AREAS, WHILE MAINTAINING THE HIGH STANDARDS SET FORTH BY THE FOUNDATION'S BOARD OF DIRECTORS. THE VIKING DISCOVERY PROGRAM SERVES THE NEEDS OF STUDENTS AND PARENTS BY PROVIDING A SUPERVISED, FUN ENVIRONMENT FOR CHILDREN BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL, ON NON-SCHOOL DAYS, AND DURING THE SUMMER. THE PROGRAM OPERATES WITH THE FOLLOWING PURPOSE: 1.TO PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR BEING WITH OTHER CHILDREN IN A SETTING CONDUCIVE TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF WHOLESOME SOCIAL RELATIONSHIPS. 2.TO PROVIDE APPROPRIATE ACTIVITY EXPERIENCES WHICH CONTRIBUTE TO THE DEVELOPMENTAL NEEDS OF EACH STUDENT. 3.TO PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR MEANINGFUL PLAY AND ACTIVITY, THAT WILL HELP BUILD IMPORTANT FOUNDATIONS FOR FUTURE SKILLS. 4.TO PROVIDE SUPPORT AND GUIDANCE IN ALL ACADEMIC AREAS.
