THE NEW FAMILY MATTERS SCHOOL IS A KINDERGARTEN THROUGH SECOND GRADE COOPERATIVE MICROSCHOOL. THE FAMILY MATTERS SCHOOL CHILDREN DEVELOP THE SKILLS FOR ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT AS ENDORSED BY THE ILLINOIS STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION.
THAT GODDESS POWER (TGP): THE PROGRAM PROVIDE A SPACE FOR YOUNG WOMEN TO THINK CRITICALLY, EXPLORE NEW OPPORTUNITIES, AND TAKE RISKS WITHIN A CHALLENGING AND SAFE ENVIRONMENT. THE PROGRAM GIVE PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO SUPPORTING GIRLS IN EXPLORING OPTIONS AND MAKING HEALTHY CHOICES IN AREAS THAT MOST IMPACT THEM IDENTITY, EDUCATION, HEALTH, SEXUALITY, RELATIONSHIPS, AND CAREERS.
PARTNERS IN LEARNING: YOUTH AND ADULTS FORGE A BOND AS THEY MEET WEEKLY FOR ACADEMIC AND LIFE SKILL BUILDING. THEY SET GOALS TOGETHER. THEY WORK THROUGH AREAS OF CHALLENGE TOGETHER. THEY NURTURE GIFTS AND INTERESTS TOGETHER. THEY TALK ABOUT THEIR FAMILIES, THEIR SCHOOLS, AND THEIR WORKPLACES.
