MAINTENANCE AND RESTORATION OF THE PRESTON BRADLEY CENTER IN CHICAGO, ILLINOIS; THE MISSION OF THE PRESTON BRADLEY CENTER IS TO ENSURE THE WELL-BEING OF THIS HISTORIC BUILDING, TO PROVIDE REFUGE AND SERVICE TO THE POOR, AND TO BE A RESOURCE TO THE COMMUNITY IN UPTOWN. MANY CULTURAL AND SERVICE GROUPS SHARE THIS BUILDING, HISTORIC HOME OF THE PEOPLES CHURCH OF CHICAGO. THE SPACE IS USED BY OTHER CHURCHES FOR WORSHIP, BY MUSICAL GROUPS FOR REHEARSALS AND PERFORMANCES, BY A HOMELESS SERVICES PROVIDER FOR ITS TRANSITIONAL HOUSING PROGRAM FOR MEN, AND FOR CIVIC MEETINGS, CANDIDATE FORUMS, COMMUNITY MEMORIAL SERVICES AND SO ON.
AFFORDABLE ART STUDIO AND GALLERY SPACE FOR UPTOWN ARTISTS: THE UPTOWN ARTS CENTER IS ORGANIZED TO PROVIDE A LOCAL VENUE FOR AREA ARTISTS OF THE MIDDLE RANK TO SHARE AFFORDABLE STUDIO SPACE IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD; TO PROVIDE SPACE FOR DRAWING AND PAINTING CLASSES OPEN TO THE PUBLIC; AND TO PROVIDE SPACE FOR ARTISTS TO INTERACT WITH THE HOMELESS POPULATION AND WITH AREA CHILDREN IN ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS.
