SEE SCHEDULE O."ADVOCACY" - WE HAVE TWO LAWSUITS AGAINST TWIN METALS IN FEDERAL COURT. WE ALSO WORKED WITH A TEAM OF EXPERTS TO PREPARE COMMENTS IN RESPONSE TO TWIN METALS MINE PLAN. AS A RESULT OF OUR LAWSUITS AGAINST POLYMET, PERMITS HAVE BEEN STAYED AND WE CONTINUE TO FIGHT THEM IN COURT. WE ARE PREPARING TO INTRODUCE "PROVE IT FIRST" LEGISLATION IN THE MINNESOTA LEGISLATURE IN THE UPCOMING YEAR AND HAVE BEEN BUIDLING A COALITION OF ENVIRONMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS AND BUSINESSES. TWO LAW FIRMS PROVIDED A COMBINED $902,617 IN PRO BONO LEGAL SERVICES TO ENABLE THE ORGANIZATION TO SUCCESSFULLY PROTECT THE BOUNDARY WATERS AND LAKE SUPERIOR FROM THE THREATS PROPOSED BY TWIN METALS AND POLYMET COPPER-SULFIDE MINE. "NO BOUNDARIES TO THE BOUNDARY WATERS" - THIS PROGRAM ADDED A CLASSROOM EDUCATION COMPONENT THIS YEAR, WHERE STUDENTS IN MINNESOTA LEARN ABOUT THE BOUNDARY WATERS. DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, THIS CLASSROOM EDUCATION PROGRAM HAS BEEN MOSTLY DELIVERED VIRTUALLY. "THRIVING COMMUNITIES" - WE PROVIDED SUPPORT TO BOUNDARY WATERS GATEWAY COMMUNITIES TO HELP THEM THROUGH THE ECONOMIC IMPACT OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. WHILE OUR SUPPORT OF VOLUNTEERS WITH THE US FOREST SERVICE WAS GREATLY REDUCED DUE TO THE PANDEMIC, WE WERE ABLE TO PROVIDE SUPPORT TO A HANDFUL OF VOLUNEERS WORKING IN THE BOUNDARY WATERS.
