ST. JOSEPH VALLEY PHCC STRIVES TO BE THE LEADING PROVIDER OF EDUCATION, LABOR RELATIONS AND NETWORKING FOR ITS MEMBERS AND WORKS TO PROTECT THE HEALTH AND SAFETY OF THE COMMUNITY.

THE TOP PRIORITY OF THE ST. JOE VALLEY PHCC IS TO EDUCATE ITS MEMBERS THROUGH MONTHLY MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS WITH SPEAKERS ON TOPICS SUCH AS GEOTHERMAL ENERGY, TECHNOLOGY TRENDS, ENERGY AUDITS AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH. CONTRACTOR TRAINING INCLUDED EPA LEAD BASED PAINT REMOVAL CLASSES, TRAINING CONFERENCES SPONSORED BY OUR STATE AND NATIONAL ASSOCIATIONS IN THE AREAS OF FAMILY BUSINESS STRATEGIES, NEW DESIGN INNOVATIONS SUCH AS BIM AND ADAPTING TO THE CURRENT ECONOMIC CONDITIONS. EDUCATING THE PUBLIC ABOUT INDIANA LAW REQUIRING A LICENSED PLUMBER REMAINS A PRIORITY.
SERVING AS THE BARGAINING AGENT FOR OUR CONTRACTOR MEMBERS IS THE SECOND PRIORITY OF THE ASSOCIATION. IN THIS CAPACITY OUR VOLUNTEER NEGOTIATING TEAMS IS TRAINED TO NEGOTIATE A THREE-YEAR CONTRACT WITH LOCAL 172 PLUMBERS AND PIPEFITTERS. MEMBERS ALSO SERVE ON THE JOINT LABOR MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE, APPRENTICE COMMITTEE, HEALTH & WELFARE COMMITTEE AND 401 K COMMITTEE. CONTRIBUTIONS ARE MADE TO A JOURNEYMAN TRAINING FUND.
GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY HAS BEEN A GOAL SINCE THE ORGANIZATION BEGAN. CONTRIBUTIONS WERE MADE TO MANY CHARITIES, INCLUDING REPAIRING HOMES IN THE ANNUAL REBUILDING TOGETHER PROJECT, AND WORKED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH LOCAL 172 TO PROVIDE THE PLUMBING, HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING NEEDS FOR A NEW SHELTER FOR HOMELESS VETERANS THAT OPENED ON VETERAN'S DAY 2011.
