ASANTE CHILDREN'S THEATRE (ACT) IS A CULTURAL PROGRAM THE USES THE TRADITIONS OF AFRICAN-AMERICAN PERFORMING ARTS SUCH AS ACTING,SIGING, DANCE AND STORYTELLING TO FOSTER THE PERSONAL AND ARTISTIC DEVELOPMENT IN YOUTH AND ADULTS FROM ALL WALKS OF LIFE TO CONNECT WITH EACH OTHER AND GROW. ACT CREATES INSPIRING PERFORMANCES WHICH EDUCATE AND PROMOTE THEMES THAT SPEAK TO A GLOBAL COMMUNITY

PREP4LIFE IS A CUSTOMIZABLE CURRICULUM DESIGNED TO INTRODUCE YOUNG ARTISTS 6 - 12 YEARS OLD TO THE WORLD OF PERFORMANCE ART SUCH AS ACTING, SINGING, MOVEMENT TO MUSIC, AND STORYTELLING. THEY LEARN THE FUNDAMENTALS AND BUILD COMPETENCE AND CONFIDENCE. THEY WORK IN GROUPS AND LEARN HOW TO RESPECT THEMSELVES, THEIR FAMILY AND THEIR COMMUNITY. THEY DEVELOP THE NECESSARY SOFT SKILLS TO HELP THEM SUCCEED IN SCHOOL AT HOME AND/OR WHEREVER THEY FIND THEMSELVES. PREP4LIFE IS A YEAR-LONG INITIATIVE. DURING THE IN-SCHOOL MONTHS WE SERVED ABOUT 150 YOUTH WHO MET 1/DAY 2/HRS OVER THE COURSE OF 8- 12 WEEKS. AT THE END OF THE COURSE, THEY HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO DEMONSTRATE TO THEMSELVES AND OTHERS WHAT SKILLS THEY HAVE MASTERED.
PREP UPPER CLASS IS A CUSTOMIZABLE CURRICULUM DESIGNED FOR YOUTH 12-18 YEARS OLD. IT INCORPORATES STORYTELLING, ACTING AND CONTENT CREATION IN A PRACTICAL & HANDS ON SETTING. THE FOCUS IS ON WRITING, CREATING AND CURATING CONTENT FOR DIVERSE SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS. THE GOAL IS TO SHARE SOCIAL ISSUES FROM THE VIEW OF TEENS, BUILD RELATIONSHIPS, AND ENGAGE BROAD AUDIENCES THROUGH FILM PRESENTATION AND IN-PERSON PERFORMANCES CLASS SIZE IS 15 TO ALLOW FOR MORE 1 ON 1 COACHING, STUDENTS ATTEND CLASS 2/WEEK 2/HRS ACROSS 8-12 WEEKS, 3 TIMES A YEAR.
ZORA'S DAUGHTERS IS A CURRICULUM DESIGNED TO ADDRESS THE ACHIEVEMENT GAPS IN LITERACY, DEFICITS IN CULTURAL LEARNING AND DEEP INSECURITIES IN YOUTH ESPECIALLY BLACK GIRLS. CREATIVE WRITING, SPOKEN WORD, STORYTELLING, PERFORMING ARTS AND FIELD TRIPS (VIRTUAL AND IN-PERSON), AS CONDUITS FOR INTROSPECTION, CONFIDENCE BUILDING, AND SELF-EXPRESSION. STUDENTS EXPLORE FEMALE GREATS OF AFRICAN AMERICAN LITERATURE. STUDENTS MEET 2HR/1/DAY/WEEK FOR 6-8 WEEKS 3 TIMES A YEAR. CLASS SIZE IS 18 TO ALLOW FOR INDIVIDUALIZED COACHING.
