EDUCATIONAL OPPURTUNITIES PROGRAMS:TEACHER SUPPLY BUS - THIS INITIATIVE HELPS TEACHERS OBTAIN THE NECESSARY SUPPLIES IN THE CLASSROOM IN AN EFFORT TO HELP THEIR STUDENTS TO BE EQUIPPED AND READY TO LEARN. THE BUS TOURS EACH OF THE SCHOOLS IN THE GREATER CLARK COUNTY SCHOOL CORPORATION AND ALLOWS EDUCATORS TO HOP ON AND "SHOP" FOR THE SUPPLIES THEY NEED MOST.S.T.E.M. SUMMER CAMPS - THIS INITIATIVE HELPS PROVIDE SUPPORT TO THE ROBOTICS & RUBE GOLDBERG CLUBS AT EACH OF OUR SCHOOLS. ACROSS GREATER CLARK COUNTY SCHOOLS WE HAVE ROBOTICS TEAMS IN EVERY ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOL. EVERY YEAR VEX ROBOTICS ANNOUNCES A ROBOTICS CHALLENGE. THIS CHALLENGE IS FOCUSED AROUND STUDENTS DESIGNING A ROBOT THAT WILL COMPLETE A TASK THROUGH AN OBSTACLE COURSE OR FIELD. THE CLUBS MEET FOR SEVERAL MONTHS TO COMPLETE THEIR ROBOT DESIGN WORK. THE GCCS STUDENTS THEN GATHER TOGETHER FOR A DISTRICT WIDE COMPETITION WHERE TEAMS WILL COMPETE TO COMPLETE THE ROBOTICS CHALLENGE IN THE FASTEST TIME. SOME OF OUR TEAMS GO ON TO THE VEX ROBOTICS STATE COMPETITION. THE RUBE GOLDBERG CLUB ALLOWS STUDENTS TO WORK IN TEAMS AND USE THEIR CREATIVITY TO BUILD MACHINES MADE OUT OF BASIC HOUSEHOLD ITEMS. STUDENTS LEARN ABOUT LEVERS, PULLEYS, INCLINES, AND MORE TO MAKE THEIR MACHINE FUNCTION. THE STUDENTS COME TOGETHER FOR A DISTRICT WIDE COMPETITION WHERE THEY PRESENT THEIR MACHINES TO AN AUDIENCE AND JUDGES. THE ARTS IN GREATER CLARK - THIS INITIATIVE PROVIDES GRANT FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES TO ALL ARTS IN GREATER CLARK. OUR ANNUAL WOMEN FOR GREATER EVENT SUPPORTS THE FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE. BECAUSE OF THE SUPPORT OF OUR DONORS WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO FUND MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS, SOUND EQUIPMENT, THEATER ART PERFORMANCES, SHEET MUSIC FOR HISPANIC STUDENTS, AND MUCH MORE. WE HAVE PUT WATER COLOR PAINTS, CLAY, GLAZE, AND OTHER ART RELATED MATERIALS INTO OUR ART CLASSROOM FROM KINDERGARTEN TO 12TH GRADE.
BAYA PROGRAM - BAYA (BEAUTIFUL AS YOU ARE) IS A FEMALE EMPOWERMENT GROUP THAT AIMS TO HELP TEACH COPING SKILLS AND STRATEGIES TO STUDENTS THAT MAY STRUGGLE WITH ANY OF THE FOLLOWING: SELF ESTEEM, BODY-IMAGE, DEPRESSION, ANXIETY, SUICIDAL IDEATION, BULLYING, LONLINESS, OR OTHER RELATED CONCERSN. BAYA PROVIDES A SAFE SPACE FOR YOUNG FEMALES TO DISSECT LIFE EXPERIENCES AND MENTAL BLOCKS THAT HINDER THEM FROM REACHING FULL SELF-ACTUALIZATION.
CREATIVE CLASSROOM GRANTS - THIS INITIATIVE ALLOWS EDUCATORS TO APPLY FOR FUNDING FOR CREATIVE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR THEIR CLASSROOMS. PROJECTS THAT ENHANCE THE STUDENTS' LEARNING EXPERIENCE IN ONE OR MORE SUBJECT AREAS (LANGUAGE ARTS, MATH, SCIENCE, SOCIAL STUDIES, ARTS) ARE ESPECIALLY ENCOURAGED.
