JAMESON CAMP SERVES A YEAR ROUND YOUTH DEVELOPMENT AGENCY. THE ORGANIZATION'S PRIMARY PURPOSE IS TO PROVIDE CHILDREN AND YOUTH WITH A CAMP EXPERIENCE THAT FOSTERS CHARACTER AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT AND AN APPRECIATION FOR ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP.

JAMESON CAMP SERVED CHILDREN AGES 7-17 OF WHOM OVER 82% WERE FROM ECONOMICALLY CHALLENGED CIRCUMSTANCES. JAMESON CAMP FILLED 607 CAMPING SLOTS WITH 459 INDIVIDUAL CAMPERS, SOME OF WHOM RETURNED FOR MORE THAN ONE SESSION. THE CAMP ALSO SPECIALIZED IN SERVING CHILDREN WITH MINOR SOCIAL OR EMOTIONAL CHALLENGES (46%, 213 CAMPERS).THE CAMP ENABLES CHILDREN TO ENGAGE IN A VARIETY OF ENRICHING EXPERIENCES SUCH AS HIKING, CAMPING, NATURE DISCOVERY, ARTS AND CRAFTS, SPORTS, CULINARY ARTS, AND MORE. THE PROGRAMMING IS DESIGNED TO FOSTER POSITIVE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT BY PROMOTING POSITIVE VALUES AND BEHAVIOR.
ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION PROGRAMMING IS PROVIDED TO SCHOOL AND OTHER YOUTH GROUPS TO LEARN ABOUT NATURE THROUGH ACTIVITIES DESIGNED ON INDIANA STATE EDUCATION STANDARDS FOR SCIENCE. IN 2021, JAMESON SERVED 4,085 STUDENTS IN THIS PROGRAM. CHALLENGE COURSE PROGRAMS ARE DESIGNED TO FOSTER TEAMBUILDING AND TO DEVELOP CONFIDENCE AND LEADERSHIP SKILLS. OLDER CHILDREN AND ADULTS UTILIZE THE LOW ROPES, CLIMBING TOWER, HIGH ROPES AND ZIPLINE. IN 2021, JAMESON SERVED 2,125 CHILDREN AND ADULTS IN THIS PROGRAM.
JAMESON CAMP PROVIDES ROUGHLY 76 TEENS AGES 13-17 WITH LEADERSHIP TRAINING PROGRAMMING. THE TEENS ARE GIVEN OPPORTUNITIES AT THE CAMP DURING THE SUMMER TO LEARN AND PRACTICE THEIR LEADERSHIP SKILLS, AS WELL AS MEET MONTHLY THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR. THEY ATTEND FROM 10 DAYS TO 5 WEEKS DEPENDING ON THEIR AGE AND LEVEL OF ADVANCEMENT IN THE TRAINING PROGRAM. THE TEEN LEADERS WILL GO ON OVERNIGHT CANOEING AND CAMPING TRIPS, SERVE AS MENTORS TO YOUNGER CAMPERS AND PARTICIPATE IN COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS.
