IN THE SPIRIT OF CHARITY AND JUSTICE AND GUIDED BY THE GOSPEL, THE ST. VINCENT DEPAUL SOCIETY OF ST. JOSEPH COUNTY IS A CATHOLIC LAY ORGANIZATION THAT ENGAGES PEOPLE TO JOIN TOGETHER, LIVE THEIR FAITH AND GROW SPIRITUALLY THROUGH PERSON-TO-PERSON SERVICE TO ALL IN NEED.

THESE EXPENSES ACCOUNT FOR THE DIRECT COSTS INCURRED TO PROVIDE CHARITABLE SERVICES TO THE NEEDY OF ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, INDIANA. THESE EXPENSES INCLUDE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR HELP WITH RENT AND UTILITIES, FOOD PURCHASED TO DISTRIBUTE TO THE HUNGRY AND THE MATERIAL GIVEAWAY PROGRAM THAT ALLOWS THOSE IN NEED TO RECEIVE CLOTHING, FURNITURE AND OTHER HOUSEHOLD GOODS, FREE OF CHARGE. ALSO INCLUDED IS THE ORGANIZATION'S ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PROGRAM WHICH PROVIDES CHRISTMAS FOOD AND TOYS TO NEARLY 1,576 FAMILIES ANNUALLY. IN TOTAL, NEARLY 39,436 ST. JOSEPH COUNTY RESIDENTS BENEFITED FROM THE WORKS OF THE SOCIETY DURING THE LAST FISCAL YEAR.
THE REMAINING PROGRAM EXPENSES ARE FOR THE DAY TO DAY OPERATIONS OF THE ORGANIZATION.
THESE EXPENSES ARE FOR THE PAYROLL AND BENEFITS OF THE SOCIETY'S STAFF FOR THE THRIFT STORE AND PROGRAMS AND DEVELOPMENT STAFF OF THE ORGANIZATION. THE SOCIETY PAYS FOR 80% OF THE COST OF EACH FULL TIME EMPLOYEE'S HEALTH INSURANCE. THE EFFORTS OF THE PROGRAM AND DEVELOPMENT STAFF HELP THE SOCIETY BY ADMINISTERING THE EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE AND SELF SUFFICIENCY PROGRAMS AS WELL AS RAISE FUNDS AND IN KIND DONATIONS WHICH ARE USED TO ASSIST THOSE WE SERVE.
