RESTORATIVE SERVICES AND SUPPORT TO HUMAN TRAFFICKING SURVIVORS: RJEC PROVIDES CONTINUING CARE PROGRAMS AND SERVICES TO HUMAN TRAFFICKING SURVIVORS AND THOSE VULNERABLE TO BEING TRAFFICKED. STAFF AND VOLUNTEER PROGRAMS AND SERVICES INCLUDE LIFE SKILLS, COACHING, BENEFIT IDENTIFICATION, COUNSELING, GROUP THERAPY, SUPPORT GROUPS, JOURNAL WRITING, ART THERAPY EQUINE THERAPY, MENTORING, SELF-ESTEEM WORKSHOPS AND PROSTITUTES ANONYMOUS. IN ORDER TO ENABLE SURVIVORS TO GET TO THE CENTER, RJEC PROVIDES BUS TICKETS. IN 2021, RJEC PROVIDED SERVICES TO 216 CLIENTS.
PROJECT RED CORD: OUTREACH, COMMUNITY AWARENESS, PUBLIC EDUCATION AND ADVOCACY: RJEC EXPANDED ITS STREET OUTREACH PROGRAM, PROJECT RED CORD NIGHT, TO REACH MARGINALIZED AND UNDERSERVED POPULATIONS IN COMMUNITIES AND LOCATIONS KNOW FOR HIGH LEVELS OF PROSTITUTION, POVERTY AND OVERDOSES. THE OUTREACH PROVIDES INFORMATION ABOUT FREE SERVICES, A VARIETY OF RESOURCES, PERSONAL CARE ITEMS AND FOOD. IN 2021, RJEC HELD MONTHLY OUTREACH IN FOUR NEIGHBORHOODS IN CLEVELAND, EAST CLEVELAND, AND AKRON. THE CENTER OFFERS A WIDE RANGE OF INNOVATIVE HUMAN TRAFFICKING EDUCATION, PREVENTION, AND AWARENESS PROGRAMS. ALTHOUGH THE PANDEMIC LIMITED THE CENTER'S ABILITY TO HOST ITS TWO LARGE CONFERENCES, IT DID PROVIDE TRAINING IN SEVERAL SCHOOLS, A CHURCH AND THE NORTHERN OHIO TRAUMA SYSTEM. IN ADDITION, THE CENTER CONTINUED TO DISPLAY THE TRAVELING PHOTO EXHIBIT WHICH DEPICTS THE STORIES OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND SEXUAL ASSAULT SURVIVORS AND THE TRIGGERS THAT HAUNT THEM. ALSO, IN 2021, RJEC PRESENTED THE GAME TRAPPED, DEVELOPED TO EMPHASIZE THE IMPORTANCE OF PREVENTION, AWARENESS, AND INTERVENTION ACTIVITIES GEARED TOWARD YOUTH 12 TO 18 YEARS OLD AT NUMEROUS COMMUNITY TRAININGS AND RESOURCE FAIRS. RJEC CONTINUES TO ADVOCATE FOR BOTH STATE AND FEDERAL LEGISLATIVE REFORM AIMED AT ASSISTING HUMAN TRAFFICKING VICTIMS, PENALIZING TRAFFICKERS AND REDUCING THE DEMAND FOR SEXUAL EXPLOITATION. RJEC PARTICIPATES IN THE OHIO HUMAN TRAFFICKING DAY EVENT AND OTHER PUBLIC FORUMS WITH STAKEHOLDER ORGANIZATIONS, HUMAN TRAFFICKING SURVIVORS, SERVICE PROVIDERS, STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT AGENCIES, SCHOOLS, COLLEGES, PRISONS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC.
