THE MONROE STREET NEIGHBORHOOD CENTER IS COMMITTED TO WORKING IN PARTNERSHIP WITH OUR NEIGHBORS TO PROMOTE SELF-SUFFICIENCY, STRENGHTEN AND ENRICH FAMILIES AND DEVELOP COMMUNITY OWNERSHIP.

Part 3 - Line 4a

FREEDOM SCHOOL: A SUMMER READING PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN AGES FIVE THROUGH TWELVE. YOUNG SCHOLARS SPENT SIX WEEKS PARTICIPATING IN READING CLASSES TAUGHT BY LOCAL COLLEGE STUDENTS. WE PARTNERED WITH LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS TO PROVIDE ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES IN ADDITION TO READING. CHILDREN ENJOYED GARDENING, SINGING, DANCING, ACTING, TAI CHI, CARDIO, DRUMMING, SWIMMING, COOKING, ART, AND LOCAL FIELD TRIPS. KIDS ALSO RECEIVED A HEALTHY BREAKFAST AND A HEALTHY LUNCH AT NO COST EACH DAY.


PUBLIC SUPPORT: PROVIDES FOR THE NEEDS OF THE PUBLIC BY PROVIDING FOOD, CLOTHING AND HEALTH TESTING TO THOSE IN THE COMMUNITY.
