PUBLICATIONS: THE HERB SOCIETY'S PREMIER PUBLICATION, THE HERBARIST, IS AN ANNUAL JOURNAL PUBLISHED IN THE FALL THAT IS PACKED WITH INFORMATIVE ARTICLES, BEAUTIFUL IMAGES, AND FASCINATING CONTENT FROM ALL AROUNT THE HERB WORLD. PUBLICATIONS INCOME IS FROM SPONSORSHIPS AND AD SALES, AND IS OFFERED FOR FREE TO MEMBERS.
RESEARCH GRANTS: AWARDS ARE MADE THROUGH A COMPETITIVE PROCESS TO TEACHERS AND RESEARCHERS WHO APPLY FOR FUNDING TO COMPLETE A SCIENTIFIC INQUIRY OR ACADEMIC PROGRAM THAT FURTHERS THE KNOWLEDGE AND USE OF HERBS. THE EDUCATION COMMITTEE REVIEWS ALL APPLICATIONS AND SUBMITS FUNDING RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS FOR APPROVAL. RECIPIENTS ARE REQUIRED TO SUBMIT INTERIM PROGRESS REPORTS AND FINAL REPORTS ON THEIR PROJECTS. GRANTS ARE FUNDED THROUGH RESTRICTED ASSETS DESIGNATED BY THE DONORS FOR THIS PURPOSE.
SAMULL HERB GARDEN CLASSROOM GRANTS: 10 K-3 CLASSROOMS WERE CHOSEN VIA A COMPETITATIVE PROCESS TO RECEIVE $300 IN "SEED MONEY" TO PLANT OR CONTINUE AN HERB GARDEN AT THEIR SCHOOLS. THIS ENCOURAGES CHILDREN TO LEARN ABOUT AND APPRECIATE HERBS AND GARDENING.
