EMPLOYMENT: IIA PROVIDES COMPREHENSIVE EMPLOYMENT COUNSELING ANDADVISORY SERVICES TO SUPPORT THE INTEGRATION AND SELF-SUFFICIENCY OFIMMIGRANTS AND REFUGEES IN GREATER AKRON AND NORTHEAST OHIO. SERVICESINCLUDE INDIVIDUALIZED EMPLOYMENT CASE MANAGEMENT AND SKILL ASSESSMENT,DEVELOPMENT OF A FAMILY SELF-SUFFICIENCY CONTRACT AND BUDGET,ORIENTATION TO THE WORLD OF WORK AND U.S. WORKPLACE UNDERSTANDING, JOBCLUBS, AND TARGETED ESOL AND SKILL DEVELOPMENT. ADDITIONAL SERVICESINCLUDE HELPING CLIENTS OVERCOME KEY EMPLOYMENT BARRIERS SUCH ASTRANSPORTATION AND CHILDCARE. THE IIA EMPLOYMENT SERVICES TEAM HAS ALSOESTABLISHED RELATIONSHIPS WITH OVER 60 EMPLOYERS IN THE NORTHEAST OHIOREGION TO SUPPORT TALENT RECRUITMENT AND DEVELOPMENT. IN 2022, 77% OFTHE 168 REFUGEE CLIENTS WERE SELF-SUFFICIENT WITHIN 180 DAYS OF ARRIVAL. IIA'SEMPLOYMENT PROGRAMS ARE FUNDED THROUGH STATE AND FEDERAL CONTRACTS.

REFUGEE RESETTLEMENT: 191 REFUGEES WERE RESETTLED TO THE AKRON AREA IN2022. THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES COMPREHENSIVE SERVICES FOR REFUGEES,ASYLEES, VICTIMS OF TRAFFICKING AND SECONDARY REFUGEES WHO RELOCATEFROM OTHER U.S. STATES. THE PRIMARY GOAL IS TO HELP INDIVIDUALS ACQUIREA WORKING KNOWLEDGE OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE, GAIN EMPLOYMENT ANDACHIEVE SELF-SUFFICIENCY AS THEY ADJUST TO THEIR NEW LIFE IN AKRON,OHIO.
INTERPRETING AND TRANSLATION SERVICES: INTERPRETING, TRANSLATION ANDCULTURAL COMPETENCY SERVICES ARE OFFERED TO ASSIST IMMIGRANTS,REFUGEES, AND LOCAL SERVICE PROVIDERS IN THE GREATER AKRON AREA INOVERCOMING LANGUAGE AND CULTURAL BARRIERS IN COMMUNICATION. 4,000HOURS OF INTERPRETING AND TRANSLATION SERVICES WERE PROVIDED IN 2022.
