INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY EVENT. HISTORICALLY, BAFEF HAS PRODUCED AN ANNUAL EVENT TO COINCIDE WITH INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY. THE EVENT IS A LUNCHEON AND WORKSHOP WHICH MATCHES WOMEN IN FINANCE WHO VOLUNTEER, WITH YOUNG FEMALE STUDENTS FROM UNDERSERVED BAY AREA HIGH SCHOOLS FOR AN AFTERNOON OF MENTORING. DUE TO COVID, THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED. WE ARE EXCITED TO CONTINUE THE TRADITION IN FUTURE YEARS.
ANNUAL WINE TASTING EVENT. A FINANCIAL DISTRICT TRADITION SINCE 2001, THIS ANNUAL EVENT CONNECTS VOLUNTEERS AND SUPPORTERS WITH OUR PROGRAM PARTNERS AND LEADERSHIP FOR AN EVENING OF EDUCATION AND NETWORKING. SPONSORS FOR THE EVENT ARE SOLICITED FROM CORPORATIONS WHO SUPPORT FINANCIAL LITERACY INITIATIVES. IN 2020 AND 2021, THE EVENT WAS CANCELLED DUE TO COVID-19; A SPECIAL VIDEO UPDATE WAS OFFERED INSTEAD. WE LOOK FORWARD TO HOSTING THIS EVENT IN FUTURE YEARS.
IN 2021, BAFEF CONTINUED TO EXPAND ITS FINANCIAL LITERACY PROGRAM THROUGH STUDENT WORKSHOPS. TAUGHT BY CREDENTIALED VOLUNTEERS FROM THE FINANCIAL SERVICES INDUSTRY, THESE WORKSHOPS ARE OFFERED TO HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE STUDENTS, PROVIDING THEM WITH THE BASICS OF PERSONAL FINANCE, WHICH IS CURRENTLY NOT PROVIDED THROUGH CALIFORNIA'S PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM. OUR CLASSES ARE PROVIDED FOR FREE AND COVER TOPICS INCLUDING BUDGETING, CREDIT, PAYING FOR COLLEGE AND TAXES. BAFEF PRESENTED 76 WORKSHOPS IN 2021. WE FOCUS ON REACHING UNDERSERVED AND AT-RISK YOUTH.
