RIO GRANDE IS AN INSTITUTION OF HIGHER LEARNING THAT PROVIDES POST-SECONDARY STUDENTS OPPORTUNITIES TO OBTAIN HIGH-QUALITY, HIGH-VALUE CREDENTIALS IN DISCIPLINES INCLUDING THE LIBERAL AND FINE ARTS, SCIENCES, BUSINESS, TEACHER EDUCATION, NURSING, ALLIED HEALTH, AND TECHNOLOGIES. THE UNIVERSITY PROVIDES NON-DISCRIMINATORY EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE PURSUIT OF ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE. STUDENTS' EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCES AT RIO HELPS TO DEVELOP A BALANCE OF INTELLECTUAL, AESTHETIC, SOCIAL, AND PHYSICAL QUALITIES THAT CHARACTERIZE THE TOTAL HUMAN EXPERIENCE, AND CHALLENGES STUDENTS' THINKING AND ABILITIES. INSTRUCTION OF UNDERGRADUATE AND GRADUATE STUDENTS - STUDENTS CAN CHOOSE FROM OVER 55 ACADEMIC PROGRAMS AT THE CERTIFICATE, ASSOCIATES, BACHELORS, AND MASTER'S LEVELS. THERE ARE OVER 1,800 STUDENTS AT RIO GRANDE. THE LARGEST DEGREE PROGRAMS ARE NURSING, BUSINESS, AND EDUCATION.
THE UNIVERSITY OF RIO GRANDE HAS HAD A CONTRACT WITH RIO GRANDE COMMUNITY COLLEGE (RGCC) SINCE 1974 TO PROVIDE TO RGCC AND ITS STUDENTS INSTRUCTION IN ARTS AND SCIENCES, TECHNICAL STUDIES, NURSING AND ALLIED HEATH, AND SOCIAL AND BEHAVIORAL SCIENCES; ACCESS TO ALL NONRESIDENTIAL PHYSICAL FACILITIES OF THE UNIVERSITY; ACTIVITIES AVAILABLE TO THE STUDENTS SUCH AS ATHLETICS, CLUBS, AND OTHER APPROVED ACTIVITIES, STUDENT PERSONNEL SERVICES; AND APPROPRIATE OFFICE SPACE FOR RGCC'S ADMINISTRATIVE PERSONNNEL.
AUXILIARY ACTIVITIES INCLUDING DORMITORIES, DINING FACILITIES, & INTERCOLLEGIATE ATHLETICS ARE AVAILABLE TO ENHANCE THE LIFE ON CAMPUS OF STUDENTS. RIO GRANDE OFFERS ELEVEN SPORTS INCLUDING BASEBALL, BASKETBALL AND CROSS COUNTRY TO THEIR STUDENT ATHLETES.
