Part 3 - Line 4a
THE TAMPA MUSEUM OF ART FOUNDATION (FOUNDATION) IS A SUPPORT 501C3 ORGANIZATION FOR THE TAMPA MUSEUM OF ART (TMA), A CULTURAL INSTITUTE THAT ADDS MEASURABLE VALUE TO PEOPLE'S LIVES. THE TMA IS A PLACE TO CELEBRATE ICONIC WORKS OF ART IN EXHIBITIONS FEATURING BREAKTHROUGHS IN ARTISTIC DIRECTIONS AND WE ARE A VENUE FOR COMMUNITY FORUMS AND DIALOGUES WITH INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNIZED ART AND SCHOLARS. THE TMA IS ALSO A REPOSITORY OF ART FOR CURRENT AND FUTURE GENERATIONS, AS WE PROVIDE STUDIO ART PROGRAMS, SCHOOL FIELD TRIPS FOR STUDENTS AND TOURS FOR ADULTS, AND OFFER OVER SIXTEEN DIFFERENT ART EDUCATION PROGRAMS AND WORKSHOPS FOCUSED ON ANCIENT, MODERN, AND CONTEMPORARY ART. (CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O)THE FOUNDATION SUPPORTS THE TMA IN A VARIETY OF WAYS. THE FOUNDATION BOARD OVERSEES AND MANAGES THE SECURITY OF THE MUSEUM'S ENDOWMENT PORTFOLIO AND THROUGH COMMITTEE ACTION MANAGES THE INVESTMENT MANAGERS (INVESTMENT COMMITTEE), BEQUEST AND TRUST SOLICITATION AND PROGRAM OVERSIGHT (NEW CENTURY LEGACY SOCIETY COMMITTEE) AND LARGE GIFTS AND GRANTS FOR THE ENDOWMENT AND FOR CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT AND GROWTH (CAMPAIGN COMMITTEE).THE NEW CENTURY LEGACY SOCIETY COMMITTEE (NCLS) LAUNCHED AND SUPPORTED A LEGACY PROGRAM FOR THE MUSEUM THAT INCLUDES CONVENING THOSE WHO HAVE PLEDGED LEGACY GIFTS AND THOSE THAT INTEND TO LEAVE A BEQUEST TO THE TMA THROUGH THE FOUNDATION. IN 2020, NEW LEGACY BROCHURES WERE DEVELOPED AND PLANNING FOR PROGRAMMING IN 2021 WERE STRATEGIZED SO THAT WHEN THE PANDEMIC SUBSIDED AND CONVENING WAS ACCEPTABLE, THE FOUNDATION WOULD HOST A SERIES OF PROGRAMS AND EVENTS IN 2022.THE CAMPAIGN COMMITTEE LAUNCHED A FUNDRAISING PROGRAM IN 2019 THAT CONTINUED THROUGH 2021 TO FUND THE REALLOCATION OF BACK-OF-THE-HOUSE GROSS SQUARE FEET TO PUBLICLY ACCESSIBLE PROGRAM SPACE WITH THE INTENTION OF REALIGNING APPROXIMATELY 14,000 NET SQUARE FEET OF EXISTING SPACE FOR EXHIBITIONS AND 7,000 NET SQUARE FEET OF EXISTING SPACE FOR EDUCATION PROGRAM ACTIVITIES. AS THE MUSEUM PLANS FOR THE NEAR FUTURE, THE CAMPAIGN CONTINUED AND WILL CONTINUE TO RAISE THE NEEDED FUNDS TO EXPAND THE MUSEUM'S FOOTPRINT TO BETTER ACCOMMODATE THE INTERESTS OF OUR TAMPA BAY COMMUNITY IN EXPERIENCING MORE VISUAL ART PROGRAM SERVICES. WORKING IN TANDEM WITH ALL MEMBERS OF THE TMA BOARD OF TRUSTEES, THE REALLOCATION OF SPACE FUNDRAISING PROGRAM EXCEEDED ALL EXPECTATIONS AND RENOVATION COMMENCED IN JUNE OF 2021. IN 2021, THE MUSEUM MOVED FORWARD WITH ITS ARCHITECTS WEISS MANFREDI TO EXECUTE AND COMPLETE DESIGN DOCUMENTS FOR A 51,000 SQUARE FOOT EXPANSION WHILE THE RENOVATION FOR REALIGNMENT OF BACK-OF-THE-HOUSE SPACE TO PUBLIC PROGRAMMABLE SPACE WAS UNDER CONSTRUCTION. THOSE DOCUMENTS WERE COMPLETED IN JANUARY OF 2022.THE INVESTMENT COMMITTEE MANAGES THE INVESTMENTS AND DISTRIBUTION RECOMMENDATIONS OF TWO FUNDS: "FUND A," WHOSE PRINCIPAL OTHER THAN THREE SMALL DONOR RESTRICTED FUNDS, IS RESTRICTED BY INTERNAL POLICY TO PROTECT THE PRINCIPAL AND PROVIDES FOR AN ANNUAL DISTRIBUTION NOT TO EXCEED 5% OF A FIVE-YEAR ROLLING BALANCE AVERAGE TO TMA, INC. FOR GENERAL OPERATING AND PROGRAM SUPPORT. "THE RICHARD E. PERRY AND DIVISION OF CULTURAL AFFAIRS CULTURAL ARTS FUND," DONOR RESTRICTED FUNDS WHOSE PRINCIPAL IS MATCHED WITH A $240,000 STATE OF FLORIDA CULTURAL ARTS ENDOWMENT FUND GRANT, PROVIDES AN ANNUAL DISTRIBUTION TO THE TAMPA MUSEUM OF ART NOT TO EXCEED THE INCOME IT GENERATES IN ONE YEAR. THE PERRY FUND DISTRIBUTION IS RESTRICTED TO SUPPORTING PROGRAMMING AND ADMINISTRATION RELATED TO THE MUSEUM'S LARGE COLLECTION OF ANCIENT ART FROM THE GREEK AND ROMAN EMPIRES.IN 2021, THE TAMPA MUSEUM OF ART'S PERMANENT COLLECTION COMPRISED OVER 7,380 OBJECTS. THE MUSEUM RECOGNIZES THAT ITS ACQUISITIONS TODAY ARE SETTING STANDARDS FOR FUTURE COLLECTING ACTIVITY AND BUILDING A FOUNDATION FOR EXHIBITIONS AND EDUCATION PROGRAMMING.ALTHOUGH THE FOUNDATION WAS A FLEDGLING OF ONLY 23 YEARS OLD IN 2021 (HAVING BEEN INCORPORATED IN 1998) IN COMPARISON TO THE 101 YEAR-OLD TMA, ITS DISTRIBUTIONS OF FUNDS IN 2021 HELPED SUPPORT ALL MUSEUM OPERATIONS AND PROGRAMMING AS SCHEDULED AND RECONSIDERED AS A RESULT OF THE PANDEMIC.
