THE MARKETPLACE PROVIDES FRESH PRODUCE, MILK, MEAT, AND BREAD AS WELL AS SHELF-STABLE FOODS TO QUALIFYING FAMILIES, WHO CAN SHOP WITH US ONCE A MONTH. IN 2020-21, WE DISTRIBUTED OVER 1,500 BOXES OF FOOD,INCLUDING PRODUCE AND PERISHABLES, TO OUR NEIGHBORS. WE ALSO DISTRIBUTED 285 THANKSGIVING MEAL BOXES AND 307 HOLIDAY MEAL BOXES.85 BOXES WERE PROVIDED TO SENIORS. 63 FAMILIES WERE SERVED WITH DIAPERS THROUGH OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH SWEET CHEEKS DIAPER BANK.
MEAC PROVIDES LIMITED BUT IMMEDIATE MONETARY ASSISTANCE TO ENSURE FAMILIES CAN STAY IN THEIR HOMES, KEEP THEIR UTILITIES CONNECTED, AND HAVE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS FOR SCHOOLING AND EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES. MEAC'S LICENSED SOCIAL WORKER PROVIDES THE SCAFFOLDING TO HELP NEIGHBORS MOVE THEIR GOALS FROM THOUGHTS TO ACTIONS. MEAC FACILITATES ONSITE AND NEIGHBORHOOD-BASED PARTNERSHIPS TO HELP MEET THE NEEDS AND DESIRES OF OUR NEIGHBORS. 4O HOUSEHOLDS RECEIVED ONGOING SUPPORT AND RESOURCES IN THE ENHANCE YOUR LIFE PROGRAM.146 HOUSEHOLDS RECEIVED MONETARY ASSISTANCE WITH RENT, UTILITIES, AND NECESSARY DOCUMENTS. MEAC'S EARLY LITERACY PROGRAM, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH OUR NEIGHBORHOOD PUBLIC SCHOOL, PROVIDES CRITICAL INTERVENTIONS FROM PREKINDERGARTEN ON TO BOLSTER THE FUTURE SUCCESS OF CHILDREN IN OUR COMMUNITY. TO PREVENT THE SUMMER SLIDE, SUMMER LITERACY CAMPS ARE HELD FOR CHILDREN ENTERING KINDERGARTEN THROUGH THIRD GRADE.MEAC WORKED WITH 178 STUDENTS TO IMPROVE THEIR LITERACY OUTCOMES DURING THE 2020-21 SCHOOL YEAR AND IN SUMMER CAMP.
