THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY HAS ACQUIRED, PRESERVED, AND MADE AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC HISTORICAL BUILDINGS, DOCUMENTS, AND ARTIFACTS. THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY PROVIDES EDUCATION OF THE HISTORY OF THE COMMUNITY TO THE PUBLIC.
THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY HAS AN EMPHASIS ON DEVELOPING SCHOOL AND YOUTH PROGRAMS. THE SOCIETY HAS DEVELOPED A SUITCASE MUSEUM PROGRAM THAT PERMITS EXHIBITS TO BE TAKEN TO SCHOOLS.
THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY SPONSORS FIELD TRIPS TO THEIR MUSEUMS FOR ALL THE THIRD GRADERS IN THE COUNTY. IT PROVIDES MIDDLE SCHOOL TOURS. JUNIOR MEMBERS AGES 6-12 ARE GIVEN HANDS ON LEARNING. THERE IS A LECTURE SERIES WITH VARIOUS WORKSHOPS.
