SOMC DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION IS AN ORGANIZATION CONSISTING OF VOLUNTEER AMBASSADORS OF SERVICE AND PERFORMING FUNDRAISING FOR THE BENEFIT OF SOUTHERN OHIO MEDICAL CENTER (SOMC) OF PORTSMOUTH, OHIO ("SOUTHERN OHIO MEDICAL CENTER"), AN OHIO CHARITABLE NON-PROFIT CORPORATION, AND THE PATIENTS IT SERVES. SOMC DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION ASSISTS SOMC IN PROMOTING THE HEALTH AND WELFARE OF THE COMMUNITY IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE OBJECTIVES ESTABLISHED BY THE GOVERNING BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF SOMC. SOMC DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION SHALL BE A FUNDRAISING ORGANIZATION AND THE FUNDS RAISED SHALL BE GIVEN EXCLUSIVELY TO SOUTHERN OHIO MEDICAL CENTER. WHAT WE DO:THE FUNDRAISING EFFORTS OF THE SOMC DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION ARE TO HELP SUPPORT HEALTH INITIATIVES AT SOUTHERN OHIO MEDICAL CENTER. SUPPORT RANGES FROM THE PURCHASE OF NEW EQUIPMENT, UPGRADES IN TECHNOLOGY, AND ENHANCING FACILITIES AS WELL AS OTHER PROJECTS THAT ENABLE SOMC TO RESPOND TO NEEDS AS THEY ARISE.WE'RE HERE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN OUR COMMUNITY BY ENHANCING HEALTHCARE SERVICES. WE PROVIDE MUCH NEEDED RESOURCES THAT WILL HELP SUSTAIN THE HEALTH CARE NEEDS OF COMMUNITY MEMBERS.SUPPORTED PROJECTS: CELL PHONE CHARGING STATION FOR HEART AND VASCULAR LOBBY SHAWNEE OHIO RIVER PLAYGROUND & FITNESS AREA RECUMBENT CROSS TRAINER BIKE FOR CARDIAC REHAB RECUMBENT CROSS TRAINER BIKES FOR PORTSMOUTH AND WHEELERSBURG LIFE CENTERS BICYCLE RACKS FOR LUCASVILLE AND WHEELERSBURG LIFE CENTERS LIFE VESTS FOR HEART AND VASCULAR PATIENTS SUPPORT OF LOCAL CAMP FOR JUVENILE DIABETES PATIENTS, EDUCATIONAL BEARS, TRAVEL KITS FOR SCHOOLS, AND BOOKS FOR THE SOMC COMMUNITY HEALTH LIBRARY. PERSONAL HYGIENE ITEMS AND TOILETRY BAGS FOR LOCAL STUDENTSGUILDS OF SOMC:SOMC IS FORTUNATE TO HAVE SIX GUILDS (HOPE, KARDIA, PEDIATRIC, PLEASURE, SCIOTO, SERVICE), WHICH CREATE AN ALL-VOLUNTEER FUNDRAISING NETWORK TO SUPPORT SOMC'S MISSION, VISION, AND VALUES BY SPONSORING ACTIVITIES TO RAISE FUNDS FOR NEEDED EQUIPMENT, RENOVATIONS, EXPANSIONS OF SOMC FACILITIES AND PATIENT EDUCATION, HEALTH AND SAFETY. DURING FY22, COVID-19 CAUSED VARIOUS LIMITATIONS ON SOCIAL GATHERINGS AND THEREFORE, FUNDRAISING EFFORTS ON-SITE WERE WITHDRAWN. THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX, LIMITED FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITIES WERE ORGANIZED BOTH IN-STORE AND VIRTUALLY, AND WITH THAT, OUR GUILDS WERE ABLE TO RAISE $43,127.24 AS PART OF THEIR EFFORTS, AND IN RETURN, AND STAYING TRUE TO ADVANCE THE MISSION OF SOMC DONATED $32,806.46 TOWARDS: THE PURCHASE OF WHEELCHAIRS AND SHOWER CHAIRS FOR SOMC SAME DAY SURGERY THE PURCHASE OF AUDIOMETERS FOR SOMC PEDIATRICS THE PURCHASE OF INFUSION PUMPS AND NEONATAL VENT UPGRADES FOR MATERNITY DONATED $2K TO SOMC COMPASSION FUND DONATED $13K TO SOMC IN-PATIENT HOSPICE
