FEEDING THE HUNGRY - CATHOLIC CHARITIES SERVES THE HUNGRY THROUGH EMERGENCY FOOD ASSISTANCE IN HAMILTON, CLERMONT, BROWN, ADAMS, CLINTON AND HIGHLAND COUNTIES. THROUGH ITS FOOD PANTRIES AND SCHOOL-BASED PROGRAMS, 740,000 MEALS WERE PROVIDED TO NEARLY 17,000 RESIDENTS.
SENIOR AND CAREGIVER SERVICES - CATHOLIC CHARITIES OFFERS CAREGIVER ASSISTANCE TO THOSE CARING FOR VULNERABLE LOVED ONES, HAVING SUPPORTED 203 CAREGIVERS IN 2021. THROUGH ITS SENIOR COMPANIONS AND FOSTER GRANDPARENTS PROGRAMS, SENIOR VOLUNTEERS GAVE 73,915 HOURS OF SERVICE TO OTHER SENIORS IN NEED AND TO SCHOOL CHILDREN.
SU CASA HISPANIC CENTER AND IMMIGRATION LEGAL SERVICES - ST. MATTHEW INCLUDES THE "STRANGER" IN THE FINAL JUDGMENT ON LOVE (MT 25:31-46). IN RESPONSE, SU CASA ("YOUR HOME") EXTENDS A LOVING WELCOME TO THE HISPANIC AND LATINO COMMUNITY IN GREATER CINCINNATI. IN 2021, SU CASA PROVIDED EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE STABILIZATION SERVICES, EDUCATION, HEALTH PROMOTIONS, LEGAL TRANSLATION AND INTERPRETATION, ADVOCACY AND SUPPORT TO UNACCOMPANIED MIGRANT CHILDREN. AMONG ITS MANY SERVICES, 2,173 INDIVIDUALS RECEIVED EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE, 1,143 CLIENTS WERE PROVIDED HEALTH ASSESSMENTS AND 296 ADULT AND CHILDREN STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN ESOL, EDUCATION AND SUMMER ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS.
CATHOLIC CHARITIES SERVES REFUGEES WHO COME TO THE UNITED STATES THROUGH THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF STATE AND U.S. CONFERENCE OF CATHOLIC BISHOPS. REFUGEES ARE FLEEING VIOLENCE OR RELIGIOUS AND POLITICAL PERSECUTION IN THEIR HOMELANDS, SEEKING A BETTER LIFE FOR THEMSELVES AND THEIR FAMILIES. THEY ARRIVE WITH LITTLE MORE THAN CLOTHES ON THEIR BACKS AND HEARTS FULL OF HOPE FOR A BETTER LIFE FOR THEIR FAMILIES. IN 2021, CATHOLIC CHARITIES RESETTLED 85 NEW REFUGEES TO GREATER CINCINNATI, INCLUDING 46 NEW ARRIVALS FROM AFGANASTAN, AND OFFERED MANY OTHERS FINANCIAL LITERACY AND EMPLOYMENT SERVICES. ADDITIONALLY, CATHOLIC CHARITIES SUPPORTED FAMILY DEVELOPMENT BY PROVIDING 1,051 EARLY CHILDHOOD MENTAL HEALTH CONSULTATIONS TO CHILDREN AND PARENTING EDUCATION CLASSES TO 65 PARENTS. THE AGENCY CONDUCTED OVER 2,367 MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING SESSIONS, AND IT SUPPORTED CLIENTS WITH POST-ADOPTION SERVICES. OVER 10,500 HOURS OF TRANSLATION SERVICES WERE ALSO OFFERED TO CLIENTS IN MULTIPLE LANGUAGES THROUGHOUT THE REGION THROUGH CATHOLIC CHARITIES' ACCURACYNOW LANGUAGE SERVICES.
