TO CULTIVATE COMMUNITY RESILIENCE BY MODELING REGENERATIVE PRACTICES THAT RESTORE ECOSYSTEM HEALTH, HEAL OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH THE LAND, AND GROW JUST AND EQUITABLE FOOD SYSTEMS.

2021 FOR AGRARIA,WAS A YEAR OF GROWTH IN ORGANIZATIONAL SIZE AND IMPACT. WE DOUBLED OUR BUDGET AS WELL AS OUR STAFF FROM THE PREVIOUS YEAR, ENDING THE YEAR WITH CLOSE TO 25 PART- AND FULL-TIME EMPLOYEES, WITH ADDED CAPACITY IN FUNDRAISING, MEDIA, EDUCATION AND RESEARCH. BELOW ARE OUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS AT THE AGRARIA FARM, IN SUPPORT OF THE REGIONAL FOOD SYSTEM AND IN THE AREAS OF EDUCATION AND MEDIA.MAJOR INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENTS WERE MADE AT OUR 138-ACRE FARM IN YELLOW SPRINGS, INCLUDING WELLS, FENCING AND UPGRADES TO OUR CENTURY BARN. WE CLEARED THE LAND FOR OUR ONE-MILE BIKE PATH FROM THE VILLAGE OF YELLOW SPRINGS AND REFORESTED OTHER AREAS OF THE FARM. WE STARTED A RESEARCH PROJECT ON SWEET POTATOES WITH CENTRAL STATE UNIVERSITY. AND WE CONTINUED PLANNING FOR A COMPOST FACILITY, AN EDUCATIONAL PAVILION, AND A 60-ACRE WATERSHED RESTORATION PROJECT WITH THE NATURE CONSERVANCY.


SUPPORT OF THE REGIONAL FOOD SYSTEM, WE LAUNCHED OUR REGENERATIVE FARMER FELLOWSHIP, A 10-MONTH FARMER TRAINING PROGRAM AIMED AT ASPIRING BIPOC (BLACK, INDIGENOUS & PEOPLE OFCOLOR) GROWERS. WE GREW AND DONATED FOOD TO THOSE IN NEED. AND WORK BEGAN ON AN EDUCATIONAL CENTER AT MELROSE ACRES, OUR 7.5-ACRE URBAN GARDEN LOCATED IN A FOOD DESERT IN NEARBY SPRINGFIELD.


EDUCATION AND MEDIA, WE EXPANDED OUR YOUTH PROGRAMS TO INCLUDE GARDENING EDUCATION. WE HELD ONLINE CONFERENCES ON REGENERATIVE FARMING, BLACK FARMING AND OUR FOUNDER, ARTHUR MORGAN. AND WE LAUNCHED AND PRODUCED MONTHLY EPISODES OF THE GROUNDED HOPE PODCAST ON THE PAST, PRESENT, AND FUTURE OF OHIO AGRICULTURE.
