SURVIVOR SUPPORT AND RAPID RESPONSE: AS THE GLOBAL COVID-19 PANDEMIC CONTINUED TO PERSIST, CARRIE'S TOUCH FOUND THAT OUR SURVIVOR SUPPORT GROUPS NEEDED ELEVATING TO MATCH THE NEEDS OF THOSE WE SERVE. WE CREATED OUR RAPID RESPONSE FUND TO OFFER FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO WOMEN IMPACTED BY BREAST CANCER AND COVID-19. 77 WOMEN RECEIVED SUPPORT RANGING FROM $50 - $1,500 TO COVER BASIC ESSENTIALS, INCLUDING GAS, UTILITIES, AND EMERGENCY HOUSING SUPPORT. ALL 2021 SURVIVOR SUPPORT GROUPS REMAINED ONLINE. RESEARCH - PROJECT SOAR: THE GOAL OF PROJECT (SOAR) SPEAKING OUR AFRICAN AMERICAN REALITIES, A COMMUNITY-ACADEMIC PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN CARRIES TOUCH AND UCLA IS TO EXPLORE, WITHIN THE BREAST CANCER CONTEXT, THE POTENTIAL RELEVANCE AND INFLUENCE OF THE "STRONG BLACK WOMAN" SCHEMA AND ITS IMPACT ON PATIENT EXPERIENCE AND OUTCOMES. THIS EFFORT INVOLVES HISTORICALLY GORUNDED EXPECTATIONS TO PRIORITIZE CAREGIVING OVER SELF-CARE; SUPPRESS EMOTIONS; PRESENT AN IMAGE OF STRENGTH; DECLINE SUPPORT AND STRIVE TO ACHIEVE SUCCESS WITHOUT ADEQUATE RESOURCES. IN 2021, OUR TEAM CONDUCTED DATA ANALYSIS OF AN ONLINE SURVEY OF 118 PARTICIPANTS AND AUTHORED AN INITIAL MANUSCRIPT FOR ACADEMIC PUBLICATION. THE RESEARCH FINDINGS WERE PRESENTED AT THE SAN ANTONIO BREAST CANCER SYMPOSIUM - ONE OF THE WORLD'S TOP BREAST CANCER CONFERENCES.

THIS AWARENESS, EDUCATION AND SUPPORT TOOL CREATED BY BIWOC (BLACK, INDEGENOUS WOMEN OF COLOR) FOR BIWOC BATTLING BREAST CANCER. THIS APP PUTS SUPPORT AND RESOURCES DIRECTLY AT THE FINGERTIPS OF THE MOST VULNERABLE AND UNDERSERVED WOMEN DIAGNOSED WITH BREAST CANCER. SURVIVE AND THRIVE IS THE FUTURE OF BREAST CANCER SUPPORT. WE ARE STEADFAST IN OUR COMMITMENT TO IMPROVE THE BREAST CANCER EXPERIENCE FOR THOSE WHO SUFFER MOST. WE HAVE OBSERVED OVER 200 DOWNLOADS OF OUR APP IN THE FIRST 60 DAYS OF MARKETING. ANNUAL AFRICAN AMERICAN BREAST CANCER CONFERENCE, WHERE ONE OF OUR LADIES WAS A FEATURED SPEAKER.
