KETCHIKAN YOUTH COURT, A RESTORATIVE JUSTICE PROGRAM, IS BENEFICIAL FOR EVERYONE INVOLVED. CLIENTS REFERRED TO KYC, MOST OF WHOM HAVE ALREADY PLEAD GUILTY OR NO CONTEST TO THEIR CHARGES, GET THE BENEFIT OF A SECOND CHANCE. UPON SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THEIR KYC SENTENCE, THEY CAN GAIN A SUSPENDED IMPOSITION OF SENTENCE ("S.I.S.") AND IN MANY CASES ARE ELIGIBLE FOR A DISMISSAL OF THE CHARGE(S) AGAINST THEM. MEMBERS GOING THROUGH THE CLASSES PARTICIPATE IN REAL CLASSES, HELP IN THE COMMUNITY THROUGH OUR COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS, GAIN LEADERSHIP SKILLS, PUBLIC SPEAKING SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE OF BOARD OF DIRECTORS FUNCTIONS, COMMITTEE PARTICIPATION, AND MANY MORE VALUABLE SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE. BEING INVOLVED WITH KYC IN ANY WAY IS A PRIVILEGE AND SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN LIGHTLY. OUR YOUTH COURT MEMBERS ARE HIGH ACHIEVERS, HELD TO A HIGHER STANDARD, AND EXPECTED TO LIVE BY THE KYC CODE OF CONDUCT.
