CAMPUSES: IA PROVIDES HIGH QUALITY INTERFAITH PROGRAMMING THAT SUFFUSES AND SUSTAINS HIGHER EDUCATION'S COMMITMENT TO ENGAGING RELIGIOUS DIVERSITY. 435 CAMPUSES PARTICIPATED IN INTENSIVE PROGRAMS. CAMPUSES IMPLEMENT A WIDE RANGE OF INTERFAITH PROGRAMS INCLUDING COURSES, STRATEGIC PLANS, CAMPUS-WIDE EVENTS AND STUDENT LEADERSHIP PROGRAMS. IA OFFERS RESOURCES SUCH AS MINI GRANTS, VIRTUAL CURRICULA, AND SEMINARS FOR FACULTY AND ADMINISTRATORS. WE AWARDED 26 RACIAL EQUITY & INTERFAITH COOPERATION AWARDS FOR CAMPUS PROJECTS. MORE THAN 647 STUDENTS AND EDUCATORS PARTICIPATED IN THE INTERFAITH LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE; THEY HAILED FROM 199 CAMPUSES, HALF OF WHICH WERE NEW TO THE INSTITUTE. WE DEEPENED RELATIONSHIPS WITH HISTORICALLY BLACK COLLEGES & UNIVERSITIES, HISPANIC SERVING INSTITUTIONS, AND THE HISPANIC ASSOCIATION OF COLLEGES & UNIVERSITIES.
NARRATIVE: IA MEANINGFULLY CONTRIBUTES TO A NATIONAL NARRATIVE THAT PRIORITIZES BRIDGEBUILDING IN A RELIGIOUSLY AND RACIALLY DIVERSE DEMOCRACY. WE ACCOMPLISHED THIS GOAL THROUGH OUR JOURNALISM SITE INTERFAITH AMERICA, PUBLIC FORA, WEBINARS, CONFERENCE PRESENTATIONS, SOCIAL MEDIA ENGAGEMENT, AND OTHER SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS. OUR NETWORK OF PROGRAM ALUMNI GREW TO OVER 1800 PEOPLE. WE PUBLISHED MORE THAN 200 PIECES ON THE MEDIA SITE, MANY AUTHORED BY ALUMNI. TWENTY-FOUR IA-AUTHORED PUBLICATIONS APPEARED IN STRATEGIC MEDIA OUTLETS AND IA RECEIVED 40+ MEDIA MENTIONS ACROSS OUTLETS INCLUDING PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, CHICAGO TRIBUNE, THE NEW YORK TIMES, USA TODAY, THE WASHINGTON POST, TIME MAGAZINE, NBC AND FOX NEWS. WE COMPLETED A RACIAL EQUITY MEDIA FELLOWSHIP SUPPORTING A RACIALLY AND RELIGIOUSLY DIVERSE GROUP OF 16 FELLOWS WHO RECEIVED STIPENDS, TRAINING, SUPPORT, AND NETWORKING.
INNOVATION: WE INNOVATE RELEVANT AND USEFUL APPROACHES IN EMERGING SPACES. INNOVATION ACTIVITIES INCLUDED EXPANDING OUR ONLINE EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES; FURTHERING WORK IN CORPORATE DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION; AND RESPONDING TO EMERGING NEEDS SUCH AS THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. WE EXPANDED OR DEVELOPED SIGNIFICANT ONLINE CURRICULA INCLUDING WE ARE EACH OTHER'S WITH SPECIAL ATTENTION TO A TRACK ON CIVIL RIGHTS AND CHRISTIAN LEADERSHIP IN A MULTIFAITH WORLD. WE ESTABLISHED A NEW PROGRAM AREA, FAITH & HEALTH, AND LAUNCHED A MAJOR NATIONAL INITIATIVE CALLED FAITH IN THE VACCINE AMBASSADORS (FIVA) TO PROMOTE VACCINE UPTAKE USING A FAITH LENS. OF NOTE IS THAT, OF THE 109 FIVA CAMPUSES, 25 ARE DESIGNATED BY THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION AS INSTITUTIONS PREDOMINANTLY SERVING STUDENTS WITH RACIAL AND ETHNIC IDENTITIES OTHER THAN WHITE.
THE COVID-19 RELIEF FUND HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED TO SUPPORT INTERFAITH AMERICA EMPLOYEES WHOSE HOUSEHOLDS HAVE IMMEDIATE FINANCIAL NEEDS BASED ON THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. THE FUND IS CREATED OUT OF THE GENEROSITY OF INTERFAITH AMERICA BOARD MEMBERS AND IS INTENDED TO PROVIDE STOPGAP ASSISTANCE FOR A LIMITED DURATION OF TIME. THIS FUND INTENDS TO COVER ECONOMIC NEEDS STEMMING FROM THE PANDEMIC.
