HDI AIMS TO FREE POPULATIONS OF DEBILITATING DISEASES WHICH ARE DEEMED TO BE ERADICABLE AS PUBLIC HEALTH PROBLEMS, BUT INSUFFICIENTLY ADDRESSED AT THE TIME HDI BECOMES ENGAGED. CURRENTLY, THE ORGANIZATION IS WORKING TO ERADICATE GUINEA WORK DISEASE AND LYMPHATIC FILARIASIS.IN ADDITION, HDI IS NOW ENGAGED IN THE INTEGRATED CONTROL OF NEGLECTED TROPICAL DISEASES, AND IN PREVENTING MATERNAL MORTALITY AND OBSTETRIC FISTULA IN LARGE, ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED POPULATIONS.
