COMMUNITY BUILDING AND FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES FOR FAMILIES AFFECTED BY CONGENITAL HEART DEFECTS. PRIMARY USE OF FUNDS IS TO FUND SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH IN THE FIELD OF CHD'S AT LOCAL HOSPITALS AND UNIVERSITIES. SECOND USE OF FUNDS IS FOR OUTREACH PROGRAMS AND COMMUNITY EVENTS.

ONE DAY OUTDOOR EVENT WHERE CHD PATIENTS THEIR FAMILIES AND SUPPORTERS GATHER FOR MUSIC PICNIC AND COMMUNITY SUPPORT. THIS EVENT INCLUDES A VARIETY OF FUN ACTIVITIES FOR KIDS AND A SHORT PROGRAM OF SPEECHES AROUND THE CHD COALITION FUNDRAISING MISSION FAMILIES RECRUIT "TEAMS" TO ENGAGE IN A SYMBOLIC WALK A THON AS THE CENTERPIECE FOR THE FUNDRAISING ACTIVITY. SPONSORSHIPS ARE SOLD TO RAISE ADDITIONAL FUNDS.
