Part 3
THE 2021-2022 GIRLS ON THE RUN OF CENTRAL OKLAHOMA IS STILL WORKING TO BUILD BACK BETTER. AFTER OUR LARGEST FALL SEASON IN 2017, WE DIDN'T HAVE AS MANY TAKERS IN FALL 2021. WE HELD A MODEST SEASON OF FOUR TEAMS AND 39 PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS. ALTHOUGH THIS GROUP IS SMALLER THAN PAST GIRLS ON THE RUN SEASONS, IT TAKES JUST AS MUCH WORK. OUR GIRLS WOULD NOT SUCCEED WITHOUT THE HARD WORK OF OUR COACHES WE ARE SO GRATEFUL FOR THE 15 COACHES WE HAD COMPLETED TRAINING AND LED THE GIRLS THROUGH A SUCCESSFUL SEASON. 50 RUNNING BUDDIES PARTNER WITH OUR GIRLS WHEN COMPLETING THE CELEBRATORY 5K. THIS YEAR, GIRLS ON THE RUN OF CENTRAL OKLAHOMA HELD THEIR OWN PERFECT END-OF-SEASON RUN WE USED THE OKC PARKS DEPARTMENT STARS AND STRIPES PARK TO HOST OUR NOVEMBER 5K. IT WAS VERY COLD AND WINDY, BUT WE HAD A GREAT DAY WE ARE ALWAYS HAPPY TO PARTNER WITH THE COMMUNITY ON A LARGER SCALE, WHICH WAS A GREAT COLLABORATION. THE GIRLS GOT TO RUN WITH OTHER PARTICIPANTS, THUS PROVIDING LOADS OF ENERGY AND EXCITEMENT SPRING 2022 ROLLED AROUND, MARKING THE BEGINNING OF OUR 12TH GIRLS ON THE RUN SPRING SEASON. THE PROGRAM SERVES 3RD-5TH-GRADE GIRLS AT 19 SITES WE WERE THRILLED TO HAVE 290 PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS. WE HAD A GRAND TOTAL OF 65 COACHES FOR THE SEASON. OUR PROGRAM DOES HAVE A FEE, AND WE ARE ALWAYS GRATEFUL WHEN GIRLS CAN PAY ALL OR A PORTION OF THE PROGRAM FEE, STILL, WE DO NOT TURN GIRLS AWAY. THANKS TO DONATIONS AND SPONSORS, WE COULD SERVE 62% OF OUR GIRLS ON A SLIDING SCALE OR SCHOLARSHIP. WE WERE HAPPY TO FIND A GREAT RUNNING VENUE AT STARS AND STRIPES PARK IN OKC TO HOST OUR CELEBRATORY 5K. WE HAD A BEAUTIFUL SUNNY DAY TO HELP OUR 290 PROGRAM GIRLS AND THEIR BUDDIES, RUN FUN WE WERE EXCITED TO HOST OVER 600 PARTICIPANTS DURING OUR RUNNING EVENT AS THE 2021-2022 SEASONS ENDED, WE HAVE WORKED HARD ON GOALS, EVENTS, AND WAYS TO CONTINUE SPREADING THE GIRLS ON THE RUN LOVE. AS IN YEARS PAST, WE HOPE TO SERVE ONE MORE GIRL, ESTABLISH ONE MORE SITE, AND OBTAIN ONE (OR MORE) SPONSOR WE HAVE ALREADY HAD SOME NEW AND EXCITING PARTNERSHIPS, HOLDING KENDRA SCOTT FUNDRAISERS AND DEVELOPING A NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH DICK'S SPORTING GOODS AS WE ENTER OUR NEW SEASON, WE HOPE TO HOST A PICKLEBALL FUNDRAISER TO DRAW IN MORE PARTICIPANTS AND COACHES. WE ARE VERY HAPPY WITH OUR NUMBERS THIS LAST YEAR AND EVEN HAPPIER ABOUT HOW MANY GIRLS GOT TO EXPERIENCE OUR PROGRAM
