DISPEL MYTHS CONCERNING HOMELESS AND HUNGER IN THE COMMUNITY AT-LARGE, AND PROVIDE AN ANNUAL DAY OF CELEBRATION FOR THE HOMELESS COMMUNITY IN CENTRAL OHIO.

AFTER THE 2020 EVENT WAS CANCELED DUE TO COVID-19, THE 2021 GOOD NEIGHBORS PICNIC FOR THE HOMELESS WAS HELD SEPTEMBER 25 AT WOLFE PARK IN COLUMBUS, OH. IN 2021, MORE THAN 350 GUESTS FROM THE HOMELESS COMMUNITY WERE PROVIDED COATS, BLANKETS, WINTER CLOTHING, BOOTS, SOCKS, UNDERWEAR AND PERSONAL HYGIENE ITEMS. IN ADDITION, GOOD NEIGHORS PROVIDED ATTENDEES WITH MORE THAN 400 HOT MEALS AND DISTRIBUTED MORE THAN 200 PAIRS OF READING GLASSES AND SUNGLASSES. GUESTS WERE ENTERTAINED BY LOCAL ARTISTS, AND SELECTED NEARLY 700 BOOKS DONATED BY LOCAL BUSINESSES. CHILDREN IN ATTENDANCE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE PART IN ACTIVITIES, AND 80 BACKPACKS WERE DISTRIBUTED WITH FREE SCHOOL SUPPLIES.
GOOD NEIGHBORS OF CENTRAL OHIO RECEIVED THE FOLLOWING IN DONATED SERVICES, MATERIALS, EQUIPMENT AND FACILITIES (WITH ESTIMATED FAIR VALUES): CHILDRENS ACTIVITES AND ENTERTAINMENT, $4,350; STORAGE SPACE, $5,000; TENTS, $560; SUPPLIES, $430; DUMPSTERS, $400. TOTAL DONATED MATERIALS, EQUIPMENT AND FACILITIES HAVE ESTIMATED FAIR VALUES OF $10,740 AND ARE NOT INCLUDED AS REVENUE IN PART VIII, EXPENSES IN PART IX NOR AS A COMPONENT OF NET ASSETS IN PART X IN THE CORE OF THE ORGANIZATIONS 990.
