ACTION SPORTS CAMP: RIDING ON INSULIN HOSTED 15 SKI/-SNOWBOARD CAMPS AND MOUNTAIN BIKE CAMPS FOR KIDS AGES 7-17 WITH TYPE 1 DIABETES (T1D) AND THEIR SIBLINGS. THROUGH THOSE EVENTS, THE ORGANIZATION SERVED OVER 500 INDIVIDUALS IN THE T1D AWARENESS AND ONLINE CAMPAIGNS. THE ACTION SPORTS CAMPS EMPOWER KIDS TO TAKE GOOD CARE OF THEIR T1D ESPECIALLY WHILE DOING EXERCISE, ACTIVATES THE KIDS TO LEARN A NEW SKILL (OR IMPROVE AN EXISTING ONE), AND CONNECTS ALL THE ATTENDEES (KIDS, PARENTS, AND VOLUNTEERS) WITH OTHERS WHO ARE JUST LIKE THEM, CONNECTED TO T1D, EXCITED ABOUT WINTER SPORTS, AND WILLING TO NETWORK WITH OTHERS IN THE COMMUNITY. IN PREPARATION FOR THE CAMPS, RIDING ON INSULIN CREATED A LEADERSHIP TEAM OF ADULT SKIERS AND SNOWBOARDERS LIVING WITH T1D. THROUGH OUR LEADERSHIP TRAINING CAMP, OUR 30+ COACHES HAVE BEEN TRAINED TO BE LEADERS IN THE COMMUNITY.
