EARTHQUAKE REPAIREXPENSES - 83,849 NO GRANTS ISSUED NO REVENUE THE KINDERGARTEN CLASSROOMS OF BON SAMARITAN SCHOOL IN BONDEAU SUSTAINED IRREPARABLE DAMAGE DURING THE AUGUST 14, 2021 EARTHQUAKE. A NEW BUILDING WAS CONSTRUCTED TO REPLACE THE KINDERGARTEN CLASSROOMS. FUNDS WERE SENT TO CONSTRUCT AND FURNISH THIS BUILDING.
HEALTHCARE (SCHOOL NURSE)EXPENSES - 3,600 NO GRANTS ISSUED NO REVENUETHE SCHOOL NURSE AT BON SAMARITAN SCHOOL IS FUNDED BY SFHP AT A COST OF 3,600 PER YEAR PROVIDING THE FOUNDATION OF THE SCHOOL-BASED WELLNESS CENTER TEACHING GOOD PERSONAL HEALTH CARE, GIVING EMERGENCY TREATMENT TO STUDENTS AND THE COMMUNITY, AND MONITORING CHRONIC DISEASE IN THE COMMUNITY (DIABETES, HYPERTENSION, ETC.). A SMALL CLINIC SPACE IS MAINTAINED BY THE SCHOOL ON CAMPUS. AN EMERGENCY HOSPITALIZATION OF A BONDEAU CHILD WAS FUNDED AT 800. CHRISTMAS DINNER PARTY FOR COMMUNITY - 2,500 NO GRANTS ISSUED NO REVENUE EACH YEAR THE COMMUNITY HAS A PARTY ON CHRISTMAS EVE FOLLOWING CHURCH SERVICE. EACH CHILD NORMALLY RECEIVES A GIFT OF SOME KIND BUT THIS YEAR THERE WERE NO GIFTS BUT A FESTIVE MEAL WAS SERVED FOR THE COMMUNITY DUE TO THE LACK OF FOOD IN THE COMMUNITY. 1,000 WAS SENT IN 2022 FOR GIFTS, 2,500 IN 2022 FOR A COMMUNITY MEAL.
EDUCATION - OVER 300 CHILDREN, GRADES PRE-K THROUGH 13TH, HAD THE OPPORTUNITY OF EDUCATION AT BON SAMARITAN SCHOOL IN BONDEAU, HAITI THROUGH SFHP FUNDING TO SUPPORT SCHOOL EXPENSES WHICH HELPS KEEP TUITION LOW FOR THE AREA'S IMPOVERISHED FAMILIES. 70,999 WAS GIVEN TO THE COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP IN MONTHLY INCREMENTS OF 5,461 PLUS A 13TH MONTH OF 5,461 (A STANDARD BENEFIT IN HAITI). EDUCATION IS THE CORE SERVICE OF SFHP. THREE LITERACY CLASSES FOR ADULTS & OLDER TEENS WERE SUPPORTED WITH 3,600 OF FUNDING.
FOOD SUPPORT - SINCE 2008, SFHP'S GOAL HAS BEEN TO PROVIDE LUNCH FOR EACH CHILD & TEACHERS DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR. OUR ANNUAL FOOD PACKING EVENT WAS HELD IN FEBRUARY WITH OVER 300 VOLUNTEERS ASSEMBLING RICE & BEAN PACKAGES FORTIFIED WITH VITAMINS, SOY, AND DRIED VEGETABLES. THESE PACKAGES OF 75,000 MEALS WERE SHIPPED TO HAITI AND PROVIDE NUTRITIOUS FOOD FEEDING 300 STUDENTS EACH DAY. IN ADDITION, 300 IS WIRED MONTHLY TO SUPPORT THE COST OF WORKERS TO COOK AND SERVE THE LUNCHES. WITH THE EARTHQUAKE ON AUGUST 14, 2021, FOOD SCARCITY WORSENED TO UNPRECEDENTED LEVELS. SFHP SENT ADDITIONAL FUNDS TO PURCHASE FOOD IN HAITI.
