SOCIAL MEDICINE COURSE. EQUALHEALTH HELD SOCIAL MEDICINE EDUCATION AND TRAINING COURSES FOR 20 STUDENTS IN HAITI. FOR THE FIRST TIME THE COURSE WAS HELD VIRTUALLY AND OVER 3 MONTHS AS OPPOSED TO IN PERSON FOR 3 WEEKS DUE TO GATHERING RESTRICTIONS IMPOSED BY COVID19. THAT COURSE COVERS TOPICS SUCH AS SOCIAL DETERMINANTS OF HEALTH, COLONIALISM, AND NARRATIVE MEDICINE AND IS TAUGHT BY A GROUP OF HAITIAN AND INTERNATIONAL EXPERTS.
MEDICAL EDUCATION FELLOWSHIP AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM: THIS FELLOWSHIP IS DESIGNED TO EQUIP A CADRE OF PHYSICIANS WITH THE SKILLS NECESSARY TO BE LEADERS IN THEIR FIELD IN HAITI. THEY SPEND THREE MONTHS IN BOSTON ACADEMIC MEDICAL CENTERS RECEIVING MENTORSHIP AND PARTICIPATING AND ADMINISTRATIVE MANAGEMENT AND TRAINING. IN HAITI THEY UNDERTAKE A QUALITY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT AT THEIR HOME INSTITUTIONS. IN PARALLEL A LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM LED BY EQUALHEALTH STAFF ADDRESSES OPERATIONAL IMPROVEMENTS AT THE HOME INSTITUTION. TO DATE WE HAVE HOSTED 9 FELLOWS WHO CONTINUE TO BE PARTNERS WITH EQUALHEALTH UPON THEIR RETURN TO HAITI.
ANNUAL EDUCATION CONFERENCE: HELD AN ONLINE CONFERENCE WHICH GATHERED OVER 150 PEOPLE AROUND THE GLOBE TO ENGAGE IN ADVOCACY, EDUCATION, AND WORKSHOPS AROUND SOCIAL MEDICINE EDUCATION.
