THE BOWDON FAMILY FOUNDATION PURCHASED A BUILDING IN 2014 TO BE USED AS A LOCATION FOR A NONPROFIT CALLED THE CEDARS UNION. THE MISSION OF THE CEDARS UNION IS TO PROVIDE LOCAL ARTISTS WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE THEIR CRAFTS TO THE NEXT LEVEL BY PROVIDING THEM WITH A WORK SPACE, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT, AND CONNECTIONS TO THE COMMUNITY. THE FOUNDATION COSTS TO OWN AND MAINTAIN THE BUILDING, AND THE COSTS TO INCUBATE THE NEW NONPROFIT HAVE BEEN DIRECT CHARITABLE ACTIVITIES FOR THE FOUNDATION. FOR 2021, DIRECT CHARITABLE EXPENSES INCLUDED PAYMENTS OF PROPERTY INSURANCE, PROPERTY TAXES, REPAIRS AND BUILDING MANAGEMENT.
