Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
RECRUITING FOSTER/ADOPTIVE FAMILIES. MORE THAN 3,000 CHILDREN ARE IN MONTANA'S CHILD WELFARE SYSTEM. THEY HAVE BEEN REMOVED FROM THEIR BIOLOGICAL HOMES DUE TO ABUSE OR NEGLECT. CHILD BRIDGE RECRUITS FAMILIES FROM LOCAL FAITH COMMUNITIES TO CARE FOR THESE CHILDREN, WHETHER THEIR NEED IS TEMPORARY (FOSTER CARE) OR PERMANENT (ADOPTION). CHILD BRIDGE IS NOT A LICENSING OR PLACEMENT AGENCY. HOWEVER, IN 2021, CHILD BRIDGE INTRODUCED 109 FAMILIES TO THE STATE, OR ANOTHER APPROVED ENTITY, FOR THOSE FAMILIES TO BEGIN THE LICENSING PROCESS. IN 2021, THE STATE PLACED 303 CHILDREN IN THE CARE OF A CHILD BRIDGE FOSTER FAMILY. SINCE 2011, THE STATE HAS PLACED MORE THAN 2,100 CHILDREN WITH A CHILD BRIDGE FOSTER FAMILY AND 230 CHILDREN HAVE BEEN ADOPTED FROM FOSTER CARE BY THEIR CHILD BRIDGE FAMILY.
EQUIPPING FOSTER/ADOPTIVE FAMILIES. CHILD BRIDGE SUPPORTS FAMILIES EVERY STEP OF THEIR JOURNEY. ALL OF CHILD BRIDGE'S WORK IS ROOTED IN TRAUMA- INFORMED CARE. THAT IS, HELPING CAREGIVERS UNDERSTAND HOW TRAUMA (LIKE ABUSE AND NEGLECT) AFFECTS A CHILD'S BODY, BRAIN, AND BEHAVIORS. CHILD BRIDGE EQUIPS CAREGIVERS WITH A PARENTING SKILL SET THAT ALLOWS THEM TO NAVIGATE AND MANAGE THE BEHAVIORS THAT MANIFEST FROM PAST TRAUMA. CHILD BRIDGE ALSO OFFERS FORMAL MONTHLY EDUCATION PROGRAMS, BOOK STUDIES, AND MORE. ACROSS THE STATE, IN 2021, THERE WERE 2,990 INSTANCES OF ADULT CAREGIVERS WHO PARTICIPATED IN TRAUMA-INFORMED EDUCATION PROGRAMS AND FAMILY SUPPORTS.
