FAITH - FOUR RIVERS SCHOLARSHIP FUND (4RF) HELD ITS ANNUAL FIELDS OF FAITH IN OCTOBER AT THE HICKMAN COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL GYM ON A WEDNESDAY NIGHT. APPROXIMATELY 75 STUDENTS ATTENDED FROM THREE SCHOOLS - FULTON INDEPENDENT, HICKMAN AND FULTON COUNTIES. A SMALL BAND AND SPEAKER, WHO WAS THE YOUTH DIRECTOR AT THE WEST HICKMAN BAPTIST CHURCH. FLUENCY - RUDOLPH'S READERS WERE DELIVERED IN DECEMBER AND OVER 2,000 BOOKS WERE GIVEN OUT TO THE PRESCHOOL-5TH GRAD STUDENTS. FITNESS - A GRANT PAID FOR THE DR PROGRAM THIS YEAR AND THE 4RF PURCHASED AN IPAD FOR EACH OF THE NURSES TO PROVIDE TELEHEALTH FOR THE STUDENTS WHEN THE DOCTOR IS AT ONE SCHOOL AND NEEDS TO ASSIST WITH A MEDICAL CALL AT ANOTHER. THERE HAVE BEEN OVER 1,000 PHYSICALS DONE THIS YEAR AND DR. WRIGHT HAS SPOKEN TO SEVERAL CLASSES ABOUT HEALTHY CHOICES. FUTURE - DUAL CREDIT CONTINUES AT EACH OF THE SIX HIGH SCHOOLS AND STUDENTS AVERAGE AROUND 9 TO 12 HOURS WITH THE FUND ASSISTING WITH PAYING FOR HOURS BEYOND WHAT THE STATE PAYS FOR EACH YEAR. SEVERAL STUDENTS TAKE UP TO 24 HOURS OF DUAL CREDIT. THIS YEAR THE 4RF GAVE 25,000 TO THE MAYFIELD GRAVES COUNTY ATC TO MATCH A GRANT TO EXPAND THE MACHINE TOOL PROGRAM. DUAL CREDIT CONTINUES TO BE THE LARGEST FUNDING NEED FOR SCHOOLS.
