THE MISSION OF THE WOMEN'S ADVANCEMENT INITIATIVE WAI IS TO HONOR THE LEGACY OF HARTFORD COLLEGE FOR WOMEN HCW AND SUPPORT EDUCATION AND LEADERSHIP OF WOMEN AT THE UNIVERSITY OF HARTFORD
WAI HAS NO ASSETS OF ITS OWN. THE UNIVERSITY OF HARTFORD PROVIDES PHYSICAL FACILITIES AND PROGRAM AND ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF SUPPORT FOR WAI BOARD OF DIRECTORS TO RECOMMEND PROGRAMS THAT ACCOMPLISH ITS MISSION. THIS INCLUDES CAREER AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT AND RESILIENCE COACHING.
PROGRAMS AND SCHOLARSHIPS RECOMMENDED BY THE WAI PROGRAM ARE ADMINISTERED BY UNIVERSITY OF HARTFORD STAFF AND FUNDED THROUGH CERTAIN ENDOWMENT FUNDS OWNED HELD AND MANAGED BY THE UNIVERSITY OF HARTFORD THAT CAME FROM THE HARTFORD COLLEGE FOR WOMEN AND OTHER DONORS.
PROGRAMS RECOMMENDED INCLUDE LEAD LEADERSHIP EDUCATION AND DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM SERVING 100+ STUDENTS DOROTHY GOODWIN SCHOLARS 10-15 STUDENTS AND LAURA JOHNSON LEADERS 10-15 FACULTY STAFF.
