THE SUSTAINABLE WORKPLACE ALLIANCE (SWA) PROVIDES NO-COST TRAINING TO THE PUBLIC VIA GOVERNMENT-SPONSORED TRAINING GRANTS. DURING 2023, THROUGH OUR FY22 DOT TRAINING GRANT, SWA TRAINED 537 PEOPLE IN OUR DOT HAZARDOUS MATERIAL INSTRUCTOR TRAINING GRANT WITH TRAINING IN THE SHIPPING OF HAZARDOUS MATERIALS AND 455 TRAINED IN THE COMMUNITY SAFETY GRANT. AS OF DECEMBER 2023, THROUGH OUR FY23 DOT TRAINING GRANT, SWA HAS TRAINED 64 PEOPLE IN OUR DOT HAZARDOUS MATERIALS INSTRUCTOR TRAINING GRANT WITH TRAINING IN THE SHIPPING OF HAZARDOUS MATERIALS AND 53 TRAINED IN THE COMMUNITY SAFETY GRANT.
THROUGH THE EPA'S BROWNFIELDS JOB TRAINING PROGRAM, WE HAVE A CAREER WORKER PROGRAM TO TRAIN UNEMPLOYED AND UNDEREMPLOYED INDIVIDUALS TO WORK IN THE ENVIRONMENTAL FIELD AND PROVIDE JOB PLACEMENT ASSISTANCE. IN 2023, WE HAD 7 GRADUATES FROM THIS PROGRAM.
THROUGH OUR NIEHS GRANT FUNDING, WE TRAIN IN THREE DISTINCT COMPONENTS: HAZARDOUS WASTE WORKERS, FIELD OF HAZMAT DISASTER PREPAREDNESS, AND A CAREER WORKER PROGRAM TO TRAIN UNEMPLOYED/UNDEREMPLOYED PERSONS TO WORK IN THE ENVIRONMENTAL FIELD AND PROVIDE JOB PLACEMENT ASSISTANCE. DURING 2023, THROUGH OUR FY22 AWARD WE TRAINED 224 PEOPLE UNDER THE WASTE WORKERS COMPONENT, 268 UNDER THE DISASTER PREPAREDNESS COMPONENT AND HAD 29 GRADUATES UNDER OUR CAREER WORKER PROGRAM. AS OF DECEMBER 2023, THROUGH OUR FY23 AWARD, WE TRAINED 248 UNDER THE WASTE WORKERS COMPONENT, 303 UNDER THE DISASTER PREPAREDNESS COMPONENT AND HAD 12 GRADUATES UNDER OUR CAREER WORKER PROGRAM. DURING 2023 WE WERE ALSO AWARDED SUPPLEMENTAL FUNDING FOR DISASTER RECOVERY EFFORTS. UNDER THIS PROGRAM, WE TRAINED 184 PEOPLE.
DURING 2023, THROUGH OUR FY22 OSHA TRAINING GRANT, SWA TRAINED 626 PEOPLE. AS OF DECEMBER 2023, THROUGH OUR FY23 OSHA TRAINING GRANT, SWA TRAINED 123 PEOPLE ON OSHA REGULATIONS WITHIN CONSTRUCTION AND GENERAL INDUSTRY. DURING 2023, WE WERE ALSO FINISHING UP OUR SUPPLEMENTAL FUNDING FOR INFECTIOUS DISEASE TRAINING, UNDER WHICH WE TRAINED 60 PEOPLE.
